Monday morning comes much quicker than I expected it to. It seems like just seconds before I'm driving to work with a cup of fresh coffee in my hand. I've actually kind of missed work, it seems like I haven't been at work in quite awhile. All the things that are going on in my life make every day seem about six thousand four hundred and three times longer.
I pull into the parking lot and take a deep breath of the polluted California air and I feel at home. Sometimes I miss my simple life in Minnesota, where someone wasn't trying to kill me and I didn't know my soulmate was an extremely hot hit man. I get out of the car and lock it before walking to the front entrance of the building. I pull the sleek door open and I'm greeted by Zoe with a chirpy hello.
"Hello, Zoe. How was the rest of your weekend?" I ask and she launches into a huge story about what a catastrophe picking flowers for her wedding was. I'm trying to listen but my mind keeps wondering to other places. I manage to gasp and smile at the right parts so she doesn't notice.
"...and Alfie was talking and some kids ran off because they thought he sounded like Kermit the frog. Anyways...you have some photos to edit upstairs but that's about all." Zoe smiles and touches her hair to make sure it's all still in place.
"Thanks, Zo and your hair is perfect by the way." She gives me a cheesy grin then I walk away so I can go to my shared office. It's a slow process today for some reason. When I make it to my desk I see that both Marcus and Tyler are staring at my desk which has two neatly place envelopes sitting on it.
"They said we were the first ones in here and this room had been locked since Friday night. So either someone broke in or be are being majorly fucked with." Marcus says not moving his eyes from the envelopes on my desk. I walk over to my desk with an unconcerned eye roll, these boys can't even pull off a good joke. I pick up on envelope and tear it open to find a piece of paper with a typed latter on it. I read over the letter quickly:
Dear Connor,
Not even Dan and Phil can help you let alone your weak Troye.
With love,
G.J.S
I fold the piece of paper so the other men can't see what is on it then hastily tear open the next envelope, absolutely terrified to see what it has inside. I end up getting a paper cut in my haste and I stick my finger in my mouth as I pull out the second letter. I read over it carefully:
Dear Connor,
Hiding won't help you. I'll find you eventually then no one will be able to help you. So nice to see you again even from a far.
With love,
G.J.S
I grab both of the letters and walk out of my office with the guys trying to get me to tell them what is going on. I don't answer then and when I get to the lobby Grace yells at them to get back upstairs and work. They go back to the office and I walk over to an empty couch away from Zoe so that I can take pictures of these letters to send to Troye, which is rather hard when on of my fingers is still bleeding. Troye responds within two minutes with:
I'm texting Dan right now. I'll be there as soon as possible.
"Zoe do you have a band-aid?" I ask carefully gathering my letters and shoving my phone into my pocket. I walk over to her seeing that she has pulled out a little first aid kit. Why she has one at her desk I have no idea but at the moment I'm glad that she does. She hands me a band-aid and I wrap it around my finger.
