Dabi told you everything, right then and there. He told you about what he's trying to accomplish. He told you about his past. How he grew up in an abusive household, with a father who's only goal was to create the perfect child to surpass All Might. And when Dabi failed to, he was cast aside to make room for the child who his father deemed as perfect. He told you just how he faked his own death. And, he told you his real name.

"Todoroki Toya..." Oh how it sounded so beautiful coming from your lips. "Your father is the number one hero, Endeavor?"

"Unfortunately." Dabi muttered. You had to sit down, all of this information at once was too much. You knew there had to be more to Dabi, but this...it was just unbelievable. Your eyes traveled to Dabi's scars, your heart ached. "It must have been painful...working your body to it's limit like that. I'm so sorry." Dabi avoids your gaze. And he did it all just to prove that he was useful, that he was still worth his father's praise, his attention, his love...

But it was all for nothing.

"How could he?" Dabi heard your voice crack. "How could he treat his own son like that? Like you were nothing." You heartbroken, you were angry. If Endeavor were in front of you right now, you'd give him a few not so friendly words before a harsh slap to the face. "Because that's just how the old man is. He's never going to change." Dabi shrugs. "I don't expect you to understand why I have to continue doing this but-"

"No. I understand."

Dabi was shocked to hear that. "You do realize that I want to kill him right?" You nod. "Yes, I know that. And I understand why you want to do it. I can't support it, but, I understand." It was true. If you were in Dabi's place, you'd be doing the same thing. However, you couldn't support murder. You couldn't support Dabi's goal. Endeavor is a terrible man, but he doesn't deserve to be killed. But, he did deserve a good ass kicking, you'd hope Dabi would at least do that much.

Dabi laughed weakly. "You're something else, you know that? Most people would have shamed me for wanting to kill my own father. They wouldn't even think to see it from my point of view, but you...You at least tried." You smile. "That's all I can do."

Dabi covered his face with his hand. "God I'm going to miss you." Your smile fell. You'd miss him too. You never expected to think such a thing, to miss a villain. But you would. You would miss him dearly. You wrapped your arms around Dabi and cried into his chest. Dabi wrapped his arms around you as well, holding you tight, afraid to let go.

"Y/n, we have to get going." Dabi said under his breath. You sniffle and nod. The two of you enjoyed the hug just a bit longer before finally separating. You gathered your things and walked outside of the house. Dabi used his quirk to start a fire, it didn't take very long until the whole house was in in flames. You watched as it burned, your heart broke once again. Even though you weren't living there very long, the memories of you and Dabi lingered. And it was all going up in flames.

Dabi walked to your side and watched with you. He felt the same as you did. But you two couldn't stay very long. Hawks would be on his way shortly. Your hand brushed up against his, he didn't hesitate to take it with his own. "Take care of yourself." Dabi tells you.

 "I will."

It didn't take Hawks very long to show up, by the time he got there, Dabi was already gone. You stood alone. Hawks walked to your side and put a hand on your shoulder. You look at him, face still a little wet from the tears. "You ready?" He asked. You nod your head, to drained to speak. Hawks lifted you up before taking flight. On your way to the airport, you couldn't stop thinking about Dabi.

If you had known then what you knew now, you wouldn't have been so short with him. You would have tried to do more to make him feel loved. But you would never get the chance to do that now. Dabi had over time became a very good friend. You cared about him more than you ever thought you would have. You just hoped, that he would also take care of himself. That you two would some day meet again.

But maybe you were being too hopeful, looking too far into a future that might not exist. Yet, you yearned for that future. You wanted Dabi to be ok. You wanted him to find love. You wanted him to find that belonging, so that he would never feel alone again.

'Dabi...please take care of yourself.'

Hawks landed in front of the airport, he told you which flight you'd be taking and where it was taking you. "Everything's taken care of. Your home is ready to move into as soon as you get there. And I put enough money into your bank account to last you a few months until you can find a new job."

You hugged Hawks, a bold move, but you just, needed some comfort right now. Hawks slowly hugged you back. "You'll be ok."

"Yeah, someday I will be."

News of your death came quick. Shigaraki was satisfied and even congratulated Dabi for actually keeping his word and going through with a plan for once. Dabi didn't care for his praise, nor did he need it. He just wanted to know if you wee doing ok. It had only been a day, you should already have made it to your new home out of the country. And when Dabi was alone, he would text you.

Dabi:
"How are you doing?"

He nearly dropped his phone when he got a response from you.

Sweetheart:
"Fairly well, the people here are super nice. But it's not the same, you know?"

Dabi cracked a smile.

Dabi:
I know, it's not the same without you here."

Sweetheart:
"You don't have me around to heal you anymore, so please be careful."

Dabi:
"Aw, you care."

Sweetheart:
"Always have."

Dabi felt the warmth of his blood running down his cheeks. Damn it...why was this so hard? You were gone, but you were safe. That's all that mattered. So why, why couldn't have get over it? Somedays he wished he could go back to being a numb unfeeling monster. At least then he didn't have to feel like this everyday. But that's not how you would have wanted him to live. You would have wanted him to be more human, you made him feel human again. But now you were gone...

Dabi:
"I'll try, sweetheart."
