It happened seventeen years ago, you were only five years old when your mother died right in front of you. It started off as a normal day, you mother took you to work with her since it was take your child to work day. Your father was at his own job, he didn't ask if you wanted to go with him. He said he would be too busy and just left it to your mother to take you with her.

Her friends gushed about how cute you were. Your mother had made sure you were dressed up for that day, which you didn't really like, but didn't complain too much about. You were told to play with your mother's friends' children while she talked with them. You happily obliged and ran around the office with your new friends. And what made the day even better? Why, heroes of course! That day, a couple of well known heroes made an appearance at your mothers work.

You and your friends were so excited. You all got their autographs and pictures with them, they even told you that you could be a hero one day, if you really put your heart into it. Those words inspired you beyond anything else. Yes it seemed that day was turning out so perfect.

That is until the attack happened.

It happened so fast too. You didn't even know what was going on, you just knew you were scared. It started with the building shaking, then there was an explosion. You and your mother were on the bottom floor, the building came crashing down all around you. The heroes did everything they could to keep the people calm and figure a way out.

Two of the heroes worked together to move a giant block of concrete out of the way of the exit, as soon as it was clear, everyone made a break for it. But there were so many people, they couldn't all fit through at once, and so the door was blocked again by the amount of bodies trying to get through.

And the building was collapsing too fast. You ran to your mother for comfort, in all the confusion she picked you up and started running for the exit. Noticing it was blocked, she headed to a near by window. She set you down to pick up a chair and threw it towards the glass. It shattered, leaving just enough room for you and your mother to get out. Your mother picked you back up and carefully started to push you through the window, trying to mind the sharp edges of the broken glass.

There was another explosion, the building was coming down. And your mother knew there was going to be casualties, despite the heroes best efforts. But she'd be damned if you were one of them. So without second thought, she threw you out of the window, you landed on the ground, pain growing in your back. You felt some thing warm run down your back. You ignored it and reached your hand out for your mother.

She was halfway through the window before...

CRASH

Smoke filled the air, you could barely see in front of you. You coughed and stood up, calling for your mother, but there would be no answer. As the smoke slowly cleared, you were met with a truly gruesome sight.

Your mother had been crushed by a giant pile of rubble, only half her body visible. One of her arms was crushed under with the rest of her body, her eyes were wide, mouth agape, her face was stuck in one of pure agony and fear. She had died instantly, but you didn't want to believe it. Tears filled your eyes, slowly taking a step closer, calling for her in a tiny voice. When she did not respond, the dam broke, you fell to your knees and sobbed and wailed.

One of the remaining heroes heard you and quickly ran to your side. He asked if you were hurt, but all you could do is cry, cry for your mother who was long dead. The hero looked over to your mother's corpse with wide eyes. He felt sorry for you, with a heavy heart, he picked you up and walked away. You were kicking and screaming or him to turn around and save your mother, but there was nothing that he could do for her. But how were you to know? You were just a kid after all. You thought, maybe, just maybe, he could save her after all.

But as you grew older you realized the gravity of the situation. Your mother was crushed to death, there was nothing anyone, not even a hero could do to save her.

That day you learned that the building collapse was no accident, but a planned attacked by a group of villains. They knew heroes would be there in that building, and so, they set up explosives in attempts to kill them. There plan wasn't a total failure, they had killed all but one hero, and they also killed many, many civilians in the process. But you knew they didn't care. They were villains after all.

Later in the hospital, your father came to see you. He was relieved to know that you were alright, and asked for his wife. But once he was informed about what happened, he broke down.

You were injured bad that day, a long cut went up your back from the glass, it was sure to scar over later in life. And boy did it, you found it disgusting. You were much too young to heal serious injuries, not to mention it was a place where you couldn't reach. It was like a constant reminder of that day. You suppose you were somewhat thankful that it was somewhere you couldn't easily see it. But that meant everyone else could. You never showed your back to anyone after that day, you never vacationed to the beach or went to the pool at all. The only time anyone saw your back, was a doctor, and you knew they wouldn't be telling everyone about it.

It was your reminder of your mother's death, how she died saving you.

From that day forwards, your hatred of villains only grew more and more as time passed.

And now, you saved one, you continue to use your quirk on him for his own benefit. If you had it your way, if you were stronger, if your quirk was more deadly...

No, not even then. You couldn't bring yourself to actually take someone's life. You couldn't bare to watch anyone else die, whether you knew them or not. Even if it was the scum of the earth such as him...

(Ok, I said I'd be publishing chapters every monday, but tbh, I have a lot of chapters in my drafts. It would take a long time before you catch up to where I am writing at that pace. So, you'll get new chapters every other day or so.

But like I said before, that might change if I were to get stumped. But until then, more chapters!)
