"So, this is the roommate you've been talking about!" Maria smirked as he looked at Dabi. She leans next to you. "I understand why you were so hung up on him." She whispers, making you blush. "Yeah? Well, he's just too unforgettable I guess." You laugh awkwardly. Today, Maria and Dabi would finally meet for the first time. It's not like you could have hid Dabi from her, Maria would have found out about it eventually. And besides, Dabi didn't want to hide what you both were anyway. You've both done that long enough.

You were a bit nervous. Dabi is, well, was a wanted criminal. But it helped that he didn't look like much off himself anymore. He ditched the classic white tee and long jacket, and instead went for a more punk look, trying to blend in the best he could. It also helped that this country didn't get much news from other countries, so there was a good chance Maria might not know about the League of Villains.

"And this is the friend you've been telling me about?" Dabi asks. Maria holds out her hand. "Nice to meet you Toya. I've heard many great things about you, and I just had to see you for myself." Dabi takes her hand and shakes it. "Likewise."

"So, let me hear it. How did you two end up back into each others lives? Don't hold back, I want all the juicy details!" Maria grins. You and Dabi looked at each other. "Well..." You started. "Toya here got a job back in Japan, and once he made enough money, he decided to get back in touch with me and eventually he moved here. Once a roommate, always a roommate I suppose."

"Only this time you two are official!" Maria says with joy. She then sighs. "I just love a perfect love story!"

"I wouldn't say we had a "perfect" love story." Dabi mutters. "You kidding?" Maria asks. "You guys started out as friends, moved in with each other and became even closer, and eventually you both fell in love over time! It's perfect! Sure, you two might have had to occasional arguments, but you two just couldn't stay away from each other long, could ya?" You smile at that. "No, we couldn't have. Toya, he's done so much for me...I owe him so much."

Dabi looked at you, a little surprised. "Seriously? I owe you way more than that. You pretty changed my whole life. Incase you forgot, I'd literally be dead if not for you."

"Ooooh! Now that's a story I want to hear!" Maria chimed in. "Maybe next time." You say. "Your break is almost over isn't it?" Maria sighs heavily. "Yeah. Stupid work, getting in the way of my soap operas."

"We are not a soap opera for your entertainment Maria!" You playfully hit her arm. Maria stuck her tongue out at you. "Alright, I better be going." She says. "But you promised a next time, and I plan on hearing that story!"

"I promised no such thing!" You tell her. "You promised! See ya later you two, don't stop being adorable, both of you. Byeee!" Maria heads out your door to return to work. You sigh. "What am I gonna do with her?"

"She seems...nice." Dabi says with a small smile. "Good to know you had someone to talk to while I was gone." You smile. "Yeah. Though, Maria's the one who made the first move. She introduced herself while I was at the coffee shop, she said I looked lonely. How pathetic is that?" You laugh. "She kept talking to me every time I'd go back there, until we eventually became friends."

"Hm, so I was right. She's nice." Dabi rests his head on your shoulder. "You tired?" You ask. "Mhm." Dabi hums. You chuckle. "Ok. Come on." You lead him to the couch. Both of you snuggled up close to one another.

"Please!"

"As much as I like to hear you beg, the answer is still no."

You had been trying to convince Dabi for the past hour to get a dog, and no matter how much you begged and pleaded, he still said no.

"Please Toya!" You say for the hundredth time. "Why are you so hellbent on getting a dog? It's a lot of responsibility you know?" Dabi asks, making you cross your arms. "You saying I'm not responsible?"

"I'm saying, it's a lot of work." Dabi corrects you. "You work, I don't, I'd be spending most of the day looking after it. Animals don't like me." You raise an eyebrow, not believing him. "I think you just don't want to take on the responsibility of a dog dad." Dabi rolls his eyes. "That's not what I'm saying." He tells you. "You wanna be a real dad then?" Dabi's eyes widened. "What?"

"Calm down, I was joking." You say. "Thank god." Dabi sighs, you furrow your brow slightly. That...kinda hurt. "You...don't want to be a dad? Like, ever?"

"Fuck no. Could you imagine it? That kid would turn out so fucked up. No way am I going to be a father, not now, not ever." You rub at your arm, a sadden look crossed your face. Dabi noticed. "Y/n, don't tell me you actually want a kid."

"I mean, no. Not now obviously." You say with a sigh. "But, I figured, maybe in the future..." You trailed off. There was a thick silence between the two of you. Dabi never thought this day would come, the day you would ask him to be a parent with you. He was never prepared for it, for this talk, or being a father. He couldn't. He just couldn't be a father. "Y/n-"

"It's ok. Really Dabi." You cut him off. "If you don't want to have kids then, that's fine." You say with a smile. "Besides, who wants kids anyway...They're loud, they make messes, they're costly that's for sure..."

"Y/n, listen." Dabi puts his hands on your shoulders. "I can't be a father. I can't end up like him..." You knew just who he was talking about, and it broke your heart to hear that. "Toya, you'd never be like him."

"How do you know that?" There was a slight desperation in Dabi's tone. "I don't want what he wants in a child, but...but what if I end up like him anyway? I can't risk that, I can't risk bringing a child into this world, only to have them end up the way I did."

"Toya!" You put your hands on his face gently, making him look at you. "You are not your father. You were never the person he was. Ad you'll never ever be half the man he is. Please believe me Toya, if you were to be a dad, you'd never treat our child or me the way he treated you and your mother. You are so much more than your bloodline. You're just, you. And you choose who and how you are, not anyone else. You're free from him, he can't hurt you anymore Toya."

"I just..." Toya put his hand on yours, eyes closed tight as he tried to stop the flow of tears that threatened to fall. "Not now...Please?"

"Of course not now." You say softly. "And not ever, if you really aren't ready." Dabi smiles. "Thank you...now, let's get you that dog."

"You mean it!?" You brighten up. "You really mean we can get a dog!?" Dabi laughs. "Yes, I'll be fine with being a dog dad for now. But you're helping clean up whatever mess it makes."

"Deal!"
