The kiss felt like it had lasted forever and at the same time, not long enough. Everleigh found herself wrapping her arms around Sebastian's neck while she shook uncontrollably against him, trembling at his passionate touch.
Amidst their intimate moment, the girl realized that the prefects coming through the door in front of them were so busy talking to each other, none of them saw the two figures in the shadow of the stairwell.
- Sebastian... - Everleigh muttered in between kisses. While she had understood what the plan was, it seems like the Slytherin boy was taking it too serious. - Sebastian, they are gone.
Sebastian groaned into her mouth, finally putting some distance in between them two, at Everleigh's dismay. He stared at her swollen lips and then up at her eyes with an intense look that made the girl shiver.
- Right. We need to give it another try, then.
He sounded disappointed, perhaps? Everleigh tried not to think about, while she fixed her hair. He had made quite a mess of it, so there was no braid anymore. While he was leaning towards the staircase to see if the prefects were still by the library door, Everleigh put her hair in a high ponytail.
- Well? - She asked, looking at him.
- Bad news is, we have two extra prefects around the Central Hall. Good news is, not a single one of them is paying attention to the doors. We can make it if you go right now.
- Let's go.
They both casted the Disillusionment spell and moved up the stairwell to the closest door that led to the library annex. Quickly, Sebastian opened the door and let her through, closing it behind them with a soft thud.
They were out of the view from the prefects now. After going through the second door, the pair were finally inside of the library.- Right there. - Sebastian said softly.
Everleigh followed the boy's outline to the left side, behind the poorly illuminated bookcases.
- The librarian's still here, so we have that going on for us. We'd need to get the key from her drawer. That's the only way to access the restricted section.
- And how do you suppose we do that?
- I'm going to create a distraction. When she walks away from her desk, go behind it and grab the key. Understood?
Everleigh nodded, dubiously.
- What happens if she catches us?
- Don't worry. I told you I was going to get you in, and I will. Are you ready?
- As ready as I can be.
- That's the spirit. - He really that the nerve to be sarcastic in a situation like this. Everleigh watched his almost invisible silhouette crouching towards the back of the library. Seconds later, a big explosion came from a bookshelf and several books fell on the floor.
- Peeves, is that you? - The librarian left her desk unattended to approach the back of the library. Perfect opportunity for Everleigh to sneak behind it, just as Sebastian had said. Frantically, she searched for the key.
The key. Where in the hell was it?
She opened every drawer on the desk and in the third one there it was, sitting prettily at the back of it. Triumphant, she grabbed it just as Madam Scribner made her way back. She must've determined a ghost set up the explosion for fun, because she didn't take long to inspect. Everleigh hurried up through the side, carefully making her way to the restricted section door.
Sebastian was waiting for her there and she could hear him exhale audibly.
