The front door opens, Julia and Grace step out into the cold weather.
"What time shall I expect you back?" Asks Julia nervously.
Grace pushed she hair behind her ears, she looks nervous. She looked like she wanted to be sick.she was more pale than normal.
"Are you alright?" Asks Julia.
"Scared. It's my first ever job and I'm worried I'm going to fuck it up." Grace replies honestly.
Julia smiles. "You will be fine. You have nothing to worry about. Now...what time do you finish work?"
"Eight I think."
"Great. Dinner will be ready when you get in."
Grace smiles. "Thankyou. I should get going...bye."
Julia nods her head and glances around.
They separated outside the gate of the house, unaware Frank is watching from the attic window.
It took Grace thirty minutes to get to the local cafe that was located near the river fishing dock. The cafe was small, but cozy.
Grace opened the door, a bell rang out above her head. The hairs on her body stood at attention, sending a warm sensation throughout her body and a hint of vanilla filled her senses. Her body hummed. The door closed behind her.
Grace looked around the small cafe. The walls were painted a pale yellow. The tiles on the floor were white and black and tables and chairs were painted different pastel colours. The cafe was warm and bright and homely. She liked it.
She spots Kirsty in the far corner of the room. Her face buried behind a book, probably something romantic.
Smiling, Grace walks quickly towards her sister.
"Kirsty." She greets.
Kirsty head snaps up. Her eyes brighten as she spots Grace. A huge smile brightens the room.
"Grace." She greets loudly pulling each other into a long hug. Grace arms tighten around Kirsty, both laughing happily.
They pull away from each other. Kirsty studied Grace. She looked happy, but tired. She looked alot more paler with bluish, purple around her now very dark eyes.
Grace frowned."what?"
"Your makeup is different."Kirsty lied.
"I'm not wearing makeup today..."
"Oh...."
"....Julia said the same thing this morning."
Kirsty smiles a little. "What ever you did...it suits you." She said slightly worried.
They both sat down and an old lady took their orders. They both ordered a coffee with a full English breakfast. Kirsty told her about her new job at the pet shop and the same old lady complaining about anything, coming in twice a day wantinto speak to the manager.
"....the woman kept on complaining and this homeless man came into the shop...."
Grace frowned. "A homeless man? What did he look like?"
"Messy hair, long. A beard...." She started thinking. "...he had the greenest eyes I've ever seen. Like he was looking into my soul.? Kirsty shivered.
As Grace thought,it cold be the guy who has been looking out for her. He had nice eyes.
"....anyway, I was curious. I followed him into the back of the shop. When I got there, his hand was in a glass tank full of cockroaches...."
Grace scrunches her nose. "People can be weird. Did you freak out? Did you scream?" Grace gushed with excitement.
Kirsty rolled her eyes. " Stop enjoying this, it freaked me out." She scolded.
Grace giggled, bouncing in her seat. "I can't help it...I love things freaky...."
Kirsty ignore her and continues telling her story."...I asked him to give me them back..."
Grace was drinking her coffee, but she spat it out with laughter. It was loud and child-like. "You asked him to give you the cockroaches back." She squealed gaining attention from the other customer.
She glared at Grace. "It's not funny. Do you know what happened next?"
"What?" She giggled.
"He ate them whiles looking at me."
Grace stops laughing, her eyes widened with fright but curious. "What?"
"He ate them....the cockroache. He stared at me while I could hear them been crunched by his teeth. I told him to get out, he smirked and slowly left the shop. Steve popped in distracting me, I turned to make sure he was gone but only saw a flock of birds in his place."
He probably made a fast exit."
"That's what I thought. I asked Steve...he said there was no homeless guy...he thought I was talking to you on the phone..." She hissed.
"Did you check the cameras."
"No. I do it today.".
They both ate their breakfast in silence thinking of the strange things that started happening.
