A man in uniform stares at the shop in front of him. He steps inside and sees an odd mixture of items, native trinkets share a space with second hand items from the European Colonist.
The English Officer, his uniform, too, suggested the 'twenties' the last day of Empire. The Officer is tall, thin and dark haired. He stands in front of the counter.
The trader is suddenly there. He has been crouched beneath it, as if checking something. Neither of the men speak. Obviously, a deal has already been made and today is pay-off.
The Officer slaps down a bag of gold on the counter. Keeoing his eyes on the Officer he reaches under the counter and places the object in the officer's out stretched hand. He's holding the Lament Configuration. The Officer gives the trader an arrogant smirk. He leaves the shop.
Hours later, in his quarters, the Officer is sitting in the middle of the room, cross-legged and the puzzle box in his hands. He's already well into solving the box, but it starts moving on it's own. Two sections of the box shoots upwards and begin to peel apart from each other, ready to reveal it's secrets.
The Officer is suddenly nervous, he drops the puzzle box and scuttles back across the floor to stare at it.
The box lands upright, it extended parts still open above it.
The Officer moves forward, then suddenly chains fly forward, hooks sinking into his flesh.
The Officer screams in pain, as well as pleasure. Scalpols cuts into his face creating grids. Then very long nails drives into each corner of each grid as the Officer becomes a Cenobite; The Hell Priest.
