that night was mostly filled with michael and lily texting one another, learning a few things about the other. lily learned that michael loves to dye his hair, loves punk music, and would eat fruit loops for the rest of his life if he had to. michael learned that lily hates fancy clothing, loves true crime shows, and has a fish called rocks. which he teased her about, because who names a fish rocks? when the sun rose the next morning, lily swore she was cursed with the plague as she woke up horribly sick. she'd imagine this was her karma for ditching her spanish class.

the bus was oddly quiet that morning, there would be a few exchanges of conversation between the boys, as well as ashton and erin, but everybody was almost falling asleep in there seats. except for michael, who was listening to a song recommended to him by lily. he watched as they stopped at lily's house, but nobody came on the bus. michael looked up to the aisle to see nobody, and slumped back down in his seat. "you okay, mikey?" calum pipes up, seeing the slightly bummed look on his friend's face. michael nodded, turning back to his phone. "he's probably upset lily's not here this morning." erin chimes in, making sure her voice is low, not that michael would hear her anyways. they seemed to have a unanimous agreement with that fact.

the day went by painfully slow for michael, continually flipping his cell over to see any new message from lily. he wanted so bad to text her and ask if everything was okay, but why would he? he's only known her a week or two at most. as if something had been shot into the universe, michael's phone began blowing up. but not from lily, from a group chat. he sighed. opening the dreaded messages.

"she's not fucking dead you dickhead."
"okay well you don't know that!"
"oh my god guys shut up, she's probably skipping."

they were arguing over why lily wasn't there, and it was annoying as shit. that's when sydney chimes in.

"cool your tits guys, we skipped our last few classes to go check in on her."
then comes erin's response.
"she's puking up a left lung."

that remark made michael laugh a bit, it also made him have some sort of relief, that she was alright. that feeling also made him wanna throw up. this wasn't like michael. the bus ride back was incredibly loud, though it was only the four boys, it was still loud. all four phones buzz, which interrupts michael's music, slightly pissing him off.

"sleepover at mine? my parents are gone for the weekend for some second honeymoon bullshit." it was from lily. there was immediate agreements from everybody. michael simply responded, 'sure'. the four boys made a plan that they'd get off at their respective spots, get some stuff, then luke would be round to pick them up. all michael knew, was that he'd dread this night, extremely.

luke didn't need to text anybody he was there, they already knew due to the music he was blaring even with his windows closed. he didn't know what this night had in store, but he knew that the blunts he had shoved in his bag would make it even better. after lily sent her address into the chat, luke made his way, all three others in the car with him. michael was dead silent. knocking on her door, erin was the one who answered, welcoming them all in and telling them where to go.

michael squeezed past erin, who was too giddy to see her boyfriend. he followed calum as they made their way to the basement, which was surprisingly bigger than he thought it would've been. he set his stuff down at the foot of the steps where everybody else put their things, waving a little hello to the girls. lily just smiled at him and motioned for him to join them on the couch, too which he hesitantly accepted.

"true crime?" michael questioned, which made lily smile a bit bigger, he'd swear her eyes lit up when he asked. "you know it, lilac." she returned, clicking on the netflix icon on her tv. michael's head titled in slight confusion as she spoke, yet he decided not to question it. they were all laying on the couch in some confusing order. michael was next to lily, calum was sitting with sydney, an arm slung round her shoulder, and ashton was laid between erin's legs, and erin was messing up his hair. that left luke on the other end of the couch.

they had gone through three documentaries, ash and erin were fast asleep. some point during the documentaries they had changed positions, now ashton had a protective arm around her waist as they slept soundly. now it was only the five of them awake, though sydney was on the brink of sleep. they decided one more horror flick and they would call it a night. some time throughout the blair witch project, sydney had fallen asleep holding calum's hand and luke was asleep leaning back against the cushions.

michael was never a person to get easily scared, but tonight was different. by the end of the film, lily was asleep, her hand just barely grazing michael's. he gently linked his pinki with hers. lily stirred slightly with a soft smile on her face, turning and leaning against michael's arm. he would never admit it, but that night he slept peacefully, surrounded by his friends. and lily.
