you could hear a pin drop the room was so quiet. they were once more, sitting in lily's basement. ashton holding a package of frozen vegetables to his face. calum sat in the corner of the couch, arms crossed against his chest, not making eye contact with anybody. even sydney was too scared to go near him. luke was trying to talk to him, and he completely understood why he hit ash, but it wasn't necessary. "you could've stopped when we were yelling at you too, you almost fucking killed him, cal." luke's voice was laced with both concern and pure disbelief.

calum picked at his nails, "i didn't know." he spoke. luke just scoffed. "you didn't feel mike or i trying to pull you off? or the girls crying and yelling for you to stop? you didn't hear th-" he was cut off, "luke. he understands what he did. stop it." sydney glared.

if looks could kill, luke would've been dead.

erin was the quietest, sitting next to ashton whose head was laying against her shoulder. suddenly, luke wished cal did kill him. lily walked down the stairs with michael, carrying food in their hands. "you're a blessing in disguise i love you." sydney laughed, helping the two carry it into the room. she nodded and sat down on the couch. they all just stared at her.

lily was exhausted, since her mother works night shifts, she sleeps all day, then makes a ruckus around the house while lily tries to sleep. erin turned around, poking lily's leg, "you alright?"

lily nodded once again, mumbling something into the fabric of her shirt. michael smiled softly being the interpreter for her mumbled request, "she's tired, and wants her soda so she can be awake and talking." he found it crazy that soda could wake her up, but any other energy drink of any kind would make her tired within seconds of drinking it. erin shook her head as she reached over to hand lily her drink, she took it gratefully. the tv was on quietly in the background as they ate.

after a while, when ashton felt his face go numb from the frozen pack he'd be holding against his face. he turned to calum, holding his hand out. "i deserved it, so don't guilt yourself over it, mate." he offered a smile, his dimples becoming more prominent. calum leaned forward and shook his hand, "thanks, i am still sorry though." his reply seemed more sincere than ever before.

"you really think that blair witch is good?" lily was standing at the front of the room, pointing in hilarious disappointment at luke, who threw his hands up in any sort of defense. "it is! i love the filming of it!" he protested back, which lily just scoffed at him in return. "it's so predictable! it's the cheesiest early two-thousands movie ever!" lily laughed as she shook her head, in disbelief of how luke hemmings could be defending the blair witch project. everybody watched as they debated it, some siding with lily, and others with luke.

sydney would glance over at michael during these debates about horror flicks, smiling to herself as she began to see michael genuinely smile. she hadn't seen this side of him in a long while, and she was happy lily was able to bring it out. sydney joined in this debate after they were about four movies deep. luke was now claiming that he thought the original scream movie was 'mid'. that's when sydney decided to pitch in her opinion, "you did not just say that."

this went on for the next two and a half hours. just lily, luke, and sydney all debating with each other. and the slight audience comments from everybody else.

michael watched lily in complete adoration. watching as she laughed till it hurt, as she smiled like there was nobody else in the room with her, and watched the way she looked at him. if he didn't have his walls built up, he would've folded then and there. but he couldn't. so he settled with watching her form friendships with his closest friends, and he'd be okay with that.

oh fuck.

was he falling for her?
