Y/N Pov.

Looking over the can of beans that I found, Clementine is so excited that she shows the dog, Sam.

Clementine: Look, Sam, a can!

Y/n: Now we just need something to open it with-

Suddenly, Sam starts barking near the edge of the camp and it alerts us. I didn't see or hear anything earlier when I played my guitar, but then again, like I said, there could be a walker stuck. Clementine looks at Sam.

Clementine: What's the matter, Sam? Shh! We've have to be quiet.

Sam keeps on barking and we cautiously approach him, wondering what could have him so riled up. As we get over to him, we finally see what he was barking at. A walker that has been tied to a tree. Not only that, but there's a knife sticking out of his shoulder near what appears to be a bite mark.

Y/n: It looks like he tried to cut out his bite.

Clementine: Yeah... But we both know that never works.

We look at each other solemnly and take a moment of silence, remembering Lee. He lost his arm trying to prevent turning, but it never worked. I don't even think it slowed down the infection. In the end, it may not have worked but at least we tried I guess. I sigh and look at Clementine.

Y/n: Stand back, I'll kill it.

The walker looks in our direction and growls at us, trying to reach at us with it's free hand. However, I simply raise my hand up and shoot it between the eyes with a flame bullet. The walker's body goes limp and it's head falls forward; meanwhile, Clementine pulls the small pocket knife out of it's shoulder.

Y/n: How's it looking?

Clementine starts wiping it on her shirt.

Clementine: A little dirty, but nothing that can't be wiped off. Still pretty sharp, too.

After a second, she stops wiping the blade off, but to be sure I grab the pocket knife. I take the blade and put it between my hands as I slowly start to heat it up. This way we can be sure that there's nothing contaminating on it.

Y/n: Almost done...and there.

I move one of my hands now the blade is red is hot, so hot it's glowing. I look at Clementine.

Y/n: Hold on a second. Let me cool it down.

Over the last two years of training my power, I've picked up a few tricks. Not only do I control fire, but I've also learned to control just pure heat. So not only can I make things hot, but I've figured out how to absorb heat from things. Though it's done the easiest on things like metal.

Clementine: That's still super cool.

Y/n: Thanks. I try.

I grab the red glowing blade and clasp it between both of my hands. As I do, I start absorbing the heat until it's finally back to feeling like cool metal. I pull one of my hands away & it's back to its silver color.

Clementine: Now we don't have to worry about anything making us sick. Let's open these beans. I'm hungry.

Y/n: You got it.

She and I walk back over to the log that's nearby and sit down on it as Sam follows us. Clementine takes the knife and stabs it into the can's lid a few times, slowly opening it.

Clementine: Please don't be bad.

Y/n: I really hope luck is on our side today.

With one more cut, Clem opens the lips and folds it back. We look inside and thankfully it's still good.
