Dabi's POV

There was something up with him for sure. When he told the story about his childhood, he seemed a little to eager to tell that depressing story. And not gonna lie, I don't really like having to hear the part about Endeavor.

After we partially accepted Hawks, we told him to just go back home and to show back up at this same place tomorrow. Shigaraki is making sure that he isn't going to be bringing anyone with him. And personally, I hope that he doesn't. I don't want the extra drama.

When we got back to the base, I decided to grab a drink. Toga sat at the bar and swung her feet back and forth while resting her cheek on her palm. "Can I have a beer?"

I laughed at her. "You're still underage."

Toga pouted. "So! We've killed people and you're worried about drinking ages!"

I shrugged as I took a sip of my liqour and leaned against the counter. "Kurogiri gets mad at me when I offer you beer."

Toga leaned foward and spoke a bit quieter. "Then don't tell him."

I stared at her for a few seconds before raising my voice and calling out to him across the room. "Hey, Kurogiri! Toga's trying to get me to give her some beer!"

Kurogiri just looked at her slowly without saying anything. Toga locked eyes with him silently before turning back to look at me. "Fine! I won't have a beer!"

Hawks' POV

"I did it. They accepted me for a trial. If I can prove to them in a month that I am loyal to them, then I will offically be one of them. But they mentioned a test."

"Test?"

I nodded. "Yeah. I'm guessing it could be some sort of innitiation. Or maybe it isn't real at all, maybe it's just a way to get me nervous. Anyway, are you satisfied with all of this?"

My boss nodded. "Exceedingly so. You managed to get farther than I thought you would in the first try. I honestly believed that you would blow your cover and get yourself killed right off the bat."

I looked down at my hand resting on the arm of the chair before looking back at the guy sitting in front of me, behind his desk. "Hey, does anyone else know about what I'm doing?"

The boss took a sip of his tea before setting it down and narrowing his eyes at me. This guy was mysterious. He was the man that had mostly trained me in school. He was rarely ever honest with me. "Listen to me, Hawks. Have I ever put you in jeopardy? Have I ever questioned your actions?"

I thought back to all the times he made me miserable. The times he spat on me when I got it wrong. I kept my eyes low and shook my head. "No, Sir."

He smiled in a manipulative way. "Good. So don't question me back. Just do what you are told, little Keigo."

I flinched at the use of my normal name. I didn't like him using it. I had been told to throw it away a long time ago. But he still thinks that it's okay for him to say it. But of course, I can't stop him.

I got up from the chair and politely bowed to him before turning and leaving the room. I kept my hands in my pockets and a straight face the whole way through the building. I tried to trust him, I really did. But what happens when I can't? What happens when he lies to me again. When he manipulates me again? What am I supposed to do? He raised me. I can't just turn my back on him.

When I got out of the building, I put a fake smile on and smiled at all the happy people on the streets that called out my name. I casually helped a few people with my feathers, but I still couldn't shake the feeling in my stomach. It was like I wasn't doing enough for him. No. This is why I'm doing this. This is why I'm becoming a spy. I'm trying to repay my debt to him.

Dabi's POV

I got tired, so I went home. 'Home' was honestly just an empty apartment that I've broken into. Thankfully, it's the kind that's fully furnished. The staff never rent this one out because it's at the top floor, so they always wait until all the other ones are taken first. I got comfortable on the bed and got ready to fall asleep.

But I wanted to laugh when right when I got comfortable, I wasn't tired anymore. And then I wanted to cry. But I couldn't cry, so you already know what I did. I laughed. When I stopped, I got up and went to the balcony. I leaned forward against the railing. Since it was the highest floor, looking down reminds me of being a bird. Maybe even Hawks.

My mind drifted to a different subject. Hawks. I have a strong feeling that he's lying. But... what if he isn't? Is he just going to be joining us? Just like that? Will that ruin my plans? I want to be able to get my revenge without anyone getting in the way. But... if he joins... no. He won't get in the way. Nor will he be a traitor. I'll kill him if he's a traitor.
