Alaska woke up to frantic tapping on her window. She got up and opened it to see a troll; he scratched his head and looked around. "Sorry to wake you up, miss. I was looking for the American Dragon and came to the wrong address."
Alaska tiredly smiled and yawned. "It's alright sir, if you want directions, I'm sorry but I don't know where he lives." The troll smiled back in understanding and waved bye as he climbed down the fire escape.
Alaska closed her window and decided to get dressed for the day, good thing it was the weekend. The half gem put on her usual shirt and jeans, some converse and her hoodie, she even picked up her wooden training sword. Alaska walked downstairs and was greeted by Lion.
"Morning, Lion." Alaska went to the kitchen and got some breakfast; Pearl was sanding down a new training sword. It was a training day today.
"Oh, Alaska, you're up early." The teen wasn't about to tell her aunt about her accidental meeting with a troll. "I set an alarm since today is a training day." Pearl smiled and the two went up to the roof, and so the training started. Alaska would mimic Pearl's stances and movements with her wood sword, they even had a small sword fight.
Garnet soon came up and Pearl left, taking the wood swords with her. "You ready?" Swords were for Pearl to train Alaska with, Garnet was hand to hand combat. Alaska got in her stance and Garnet started to throw hits and kicks her way, Alaska either blocked or dodged each hit, looking for an opening. Once Garnet's side was exposed Alaska gave a firm kick, enough to push her aunt back but not poof her.
"Nice job finding an opening. But next time be a little quicker, if you're exposed while finding a weakness, yours could be exploited." Alaska nodded and fixed her braids; they got a little out of place in the fight. "So, you want to introduce me to your friend?"
Alaska raised a brow and sat down on the roof. "You've already met all my friends though."
Garnet smiled before looking up making Alaska do the same, seeing a smoky ball falling towards the roof. Alaska shielded her eyes as the ball crashed and coughed as the smoke cleared. She looked to where the ball was, but it wasn't a meteor or anything you'd find that would fall from the sky.
Well technically it was. It was Dragon, he groaned in pain as he stood up. "Dragon!" Alaska rushed to her friend's side and helped him until he got his bearings.
"Are you okay? Are you hurt?" Jake shook his head and Alaska got to work healing some of the burn marks. "I'm fine, just having some problems trollsitting." Alaska then got worried when her aunt came over, and Dragon froze.
"So, you're my niece's friend?" Alaska then facepalmed. "Sometimes I forget you have future vision."
Jake rubbed the back of his neck and Garnet placed a hand on Alaska's shoulder. "How about you go get something to eat, Snowy? I'll tend to your friend." Alaska was hesitant, but listened anyway knowing the question was an order.
Garnet looked to Jake, and he flinched, he's heard stories about how strong Garnet is from Alaska. To be honest he was pretty scared of the wise gem. "Jake, I know it's you. And I know you'll take good care of my niece. I see it." The dragon smiled at this and nodded.
"Thanks, Ms. G. I, uh, gotta-." "I know, now go before your aunt arrives." Jake took off and Garnet went inside, Alaska was leaning against Lion as she ate a peanut butter sandwich. She had a book about different types of dragons, that way she could understand her friend better.
"What did you want to talk to him about?" Garnet smirked and adjusted her shades.
"He's a good friend, Alaska. But I do see more in the future." That made the teen confused as Garnet walked to her room, it was a little concerning. A scream however made Alaska grab her wood sword and rush next door, she rushed through the front door and up the stairs.
She held her sword up as a woman who looked kinda like Mr. Long hugged a man with shaggy hair. "Stan! I didn't think you'd be here for three more hours!"
Alaska lowered her sword and slumped a little. "I never get to have any fun." Jake patted her back and the two smiled at each other. The woman came over to the teens and motioned to the girl.
"Jake, who's your friend?" "Aunt Patt, this is my friend, Alaska. Alaska, this is my aunt Patt." The two shook hands and Patt pushed her glasses up. "Oh, so you're the new neighbor my nephew told me about. Keeping him out of trouble?"
Alaska chuckled and hid her wood sword behind her. "I try to, Ma'am."
Jake crossed his arms and pouted. He elbowed Alaska and she elbowed him back, the two's interaction looked sweet to the adults. "I better get back home; my family is probably worried since I ran out of the house with my training sword."
Jake walked her out and up to her door. "So, what's with the toy sword?" Alaska held the wood sword. "It isn't a toy. It was used as a way to train a samurai or sword user in Japan. Their called Bokken." Jake was fascinated to hear how much she knew about weapons.
"Me and my aunt Pearl train with these." "You a knight or something, Snowflake?" Alaska laughed as the two sat on the front porch.
"No, but my aunts and parents thought it was a good idea to teach me how to defend myself." "That sounds pretty cool." Alaska huffed a laugh and nodded. "Yeah, it is. But since I was homeschooled most of my life, I haven't had the chance to make friends before. Besides the close family friends of course." Alaska felt weird, she usually told her dragon friend about her life. This was new, and it felt nice.
"Must've been lonely." "Not really, but I am happy we moved here. Meeting you, Trixie, Spud, and Rose, was amazing." Alaska shuffled to get up and so did Jake.
"Glad we made you happy." Alaska softly smiled with a blush as she kissed his cheek. "Thanks for...you know, being my friend."
Jake was frozen with a prominent blush across his face. "No problem." Alaska giggled and went inside, once she closed the door she went over to Lion. She flopped on his back and yelled into his fluffy mane.
"Why'd I do that?!"
Back with Jake, he went inside his own apartment and up to his room. He forgot to shut the door as he cheered and did a victory dance. His dad was passing by when he saw his son dancing like he won the Superbowl.
"Hey, son. You win your video game or something?" Jake jumped and rubbed the back of his neck; he might as well get some advice. "Hey, Dad, how did you confess to mom?"
Johnathan thought for a moment before realizing what this is about. "Oh, I see. You want to confess your feelings to a girl. Well, I was pretty nervous to even talk to your mom before we started dating. But I decided to take it slow and soon we accidently confessed to each other. It'll work out, Jake, just be yourself."
John walked out with a smile, and Jake smiled. It was probably the best advice he's gotten from his dad in a while.
