Alaska was dressed in a light blue Victorian dress as Pearl fussed over it. She was going to be visiting her aunts, the Diamonds to be specific, and Pearl always fussed over it as if it was a royal or formal occasion.
"Aunt Pearl, it's just a casual visit. You don't have to fuss every time like this." Alaska could barely breath in the tight gown, let alone move around. "I can go in some jeans and my normal shirt."
Pearl shook her head and went to leave the room. "Sorry, Snowy, but you are visiting the Diamonds, you know they expect the best."
"That was before the war ended, Aunt Pearl." Alaska rolled her eyes as Pearl left the room to get something. The girl moved her arms and loosened the dress enough for her to move and breath. "She just had to choose the Victorian style. Nothing wrong with it, but sheesh."
The half-gem then turned on a radio that she had in her room and Pineapple Princess by Annette Funicello started to play. Alaska didn't mind the song, it reminded her of the beach she used to call home.
What she didn't notice was the purple creature crawling into her room. It sat on her bed as it watched her dance. But the music made it yawn a bit, catching the girl's attention.
"Oh, how'd you get in here, little guy?" Alaska picked up the critter and pet its head, the little guy leaning into her hand.
A dragon's head or two popped into her room, Jake and his grandpa were fighting to get into the room. "Hey, Princess, have you seen a small, purple critter come in here?"
Alaska turned to face them, showing the creature she was holding. "You mean this little guy? He was sitting on my bed, seemed to be enjoying the music on my radio."
Aloha Oe then started to play, and the critter yawned as it listened. "Little fella seems so tired."
Lao then went to his human form, landing on the floor of the room while Jake flopped onto the floor. "That, Alaska, is a gremlin. A creature that likes to dismantle machines to see how they work."
"Oh, but why isn't he doing that right now?"
Jake got up and shook his head before pointing to Alaska's radio. "The music, it kinda gets the little guy to snooze for a while."
Alaska smiled and handed Lao the gremlin after it got to sleep. "I have a spare Walkman, and a CD of Hawaiian hits that might help keep him asleep for a while." She grabbed the spare Walkman, a pair of headphones and a CD, handing them to Lao. "You two might want to get out of here before Pearl comes back and-."
Too late, Pearl came through the door. "Found it. Oh, Jake, Lao Shi, what are you both doing here?"
"We came for a gremlin and have caught it. I will be leaving now." Lao left for his shop with the gremlin and the stuff Alaska gave him to help with the gremlin.
"Alaska, we have to get ready to see the Diamonds." Jake perked up at that. "The Diamonds? You mean, Alaska's other aunts?"
Pearl nodded and then Stevonnie came into the room. "Pearl, this isn't a formal occasion, stop dressing Alaska like a doll."
"Hey, Stevonnie, um, is it okay if I invite Jake, Trixie, and Spud?" Alaska wanted to introduce her friends to more of her family.
Stevonnie smiled and shrugged. "Sorry, Snowy, I already called Trixie and Spud's parents. They're busy. But Mrs. Long said to keep Jake far away from the wedding she's catering. So, he can come with us."
Jake smiled and went human. "Sweet, when do we leave?"
"After Alaska gets out of the Victorian get up." Stevonnie smirked as she crossed her arms and leaned on the door frame.
