"When?"

Percy

"Chiron? Nico? Wait Nico why aren't you on your quest?" I was so confused. As I asked questions Nico and Chiron just kept getting nervous. "Why do you guys look so nervous? Nico what happened? IS everyone alright? Is your quest over? What about Ha-" I was cut off by Chiron.

"Percy, my boy, we have some bad news for you." Chiron still looked nervous.

"Well what is it?" Nico looked at Chiron who nodded. Nico took a deep breath before saying the words that ruined me.

"Your mom, she's- She's in a coma." I couldn't believe it. Then my mind went to Paul. 

"What about Paul? Is he okay?" Nico looked like he was going to cry. 

"He's. He's dead, Percy. He died in the same crash that made your mom go into a coma." At this point Nico was crying and so was I. 

"When?" Was all i could manage. My mom ,the one who meant everything to me, was in a coma and Paul, the man who took me in, was dead. I could feel myself sinking to the floor. 

"What?" was the response i got from Nico. I was at this point on the floor. I wasn't crying, I had no tears left to cry. I was just angry and heart broken and.............. lost.

"When will she wake up? Who caused this crash? Where are they?" I was angry. That's all I felt. Nico just shook his head and said something that made it worse. 

"They think in two weeks. Annabeth and she's at camp right now. Percy, It was an accident i was in the car with her. All of us were. She was driving and she turned to tell us something and ran strait into your parents car. I'm sorry Percy. I should have paid more attention to what was going on." Nico was in tears again, it wasn't his fault. It was Annabeth's. She shouldn't have been trying to talk to them. She should have been paying attention.

"It's not your fault Nico. Nico who's quest was this supposed to be?" He looked at me like I was crazy but I could tell that it wasn't supposed to be his quest. Finally he sighed and looked to Chiron who just nodded to him.

"Yours. It was supposed to be your quest." he said looking at his shoes and playing with his skull ring. Now I know. This wasn't Annabeth's fault. It was mine. If i had been there then I would have drove and I would have watched around me. I nodded to Nico and swiped my hand through the message. I was still on the floor but I finally got myself up. I decided I would be by my mothers side the moment she woke up. I was going to leave. I was going to sit in the camp infirmary until she woke up. I don't know why they brought her to camp but  they did and I will be there. 

After taking a shower I got dressed and got ready to leave my cabin. As I opened my door I heard the intakes of breath and i heard   someone calling for Annabeth to run. I guess they thought that I was going after her. I wasn't. I walked to the infirmary with my head held high and sorrow in my heart. When I reached the infirmary I didn't speak to anyone and I went and found my mom. I then just sat by her side for two weeks. People brought me food and water and I would shower and change at the infirmary as well. Finally after two weeks my mom opened her eyes. She looked at me and cried.

"Percy?" She reached out to grab my hand and i more than gladly held tight. 

"I'm hear mom. I'm here." I said in a soft soothing voice. Her next question broke my heart.

"Paul? Cathline? Are they okay?" I didn't know who Cathline was but I wasn't informed on anything about Cathline.

"Paul's. Paul's dead mom. And who is Cathline? I wasn't told anything about her." My mom just started crying.

"Cathline was three. We adopted her last week. She was your little sister." My mom broke down and so did I. I thought I had no tears left but i guess now I do because my sister died because I locked myself up. "Percy?" My mom's voice brought me out of my thoughts.

"Yes?" She was still crying. I could feel the tears on my shoulder.

"Can we go home now?" I turned to look at Will who just nodded and left.

"Yes we can." I picked her up and carried her to Chiron still crying.

"Chiron we are going home. Will already cleared us." He just nodded and told Nico to shadow travel us to our apartment. after we got there I noticed my mom was asleep on my shoulder, I took her to her room and laid her on her bed. Then I went to talk to Nico. I gestured for him to follow me outside.Once outside I continued to walk till we were outside the building. After we were outside I turned to him.

"Nico i'm worried. My mom she's all i've got left and i've got a lot of enemy's that may come for her to get to me. I need your help to keep her safe. Please?" He just nodded.

"I'll help. But, you're going to have to explain what happened to you. Your mom is gonna need you so you can't lock yourself in your room. Okay?" I nodded and promised not to hide after a few more hours of just walking and talking Nico went back to camp and I went home. But when I got home, what I saw made my blood run cold.
