As we walked I couldn't help but notice that Nemesis was slowing down.
"Do you want me to carry you?" I stopped moving and turned to Nemesis as I asked this."You look as if you are barely staying on your feet." Nemesis paused and finally nodded.
"I'm not going to be carried bridal style, so turn around and give me a piggy back ride." I nodded and turned my back to her crouching so she could climb on easily. After I knew she was secure I set of in the direction we were headed.
"So, where are we going? I mean it would make it easier for me to get us there." Nemesis looked at the roof before pointing to the left.
"I won't tell you. Just go that way." I shrugged and turned left. After about five minutes of walking through the halls with a goddess on my back she pointed up. I looked up to find an empty shaft looking straight through to the sky. I sat Nemesis down for a second and thought of my wings. I was then met with the familiar sting of my wings appearing. I turned to Nemesis and gave her a hand up.
"I'm going to have to carry you bridal style for a bit okay?" Nemesis nodded and held tight when I picked her up. I looked up and gave my wings a powerful flap as I shot into the air. Soon we reached the top and I landed softly on my feet and carefully set Nemesis down and turned to look around me. We were standing on top of the building, that I still don't know what it is. IN the distance I could see a castle lite up with lights and a city spread in between there and here.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" I nodded absent minded and stared at the sight before me. I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned to look at Nemesis and saw her smiling at me. "Perseus, anger is difficult. It takes a hold of you and refuses to let go. The trick is to find something that calms you. Something that reminds you why you fight, not who you fight. My things is this sight. Tomorrow, you and all your friends are being given a day off. You are allowed to explore the city and surrounding forest all day." At this point I felt my face split into a large smile."However, you do have a task. I want you to find something to calm you. For now, let's go to bed. I still expect you to wake up and work on your physical strength. You will leave after breakfast." I nodded and watched as Nemesis walked back to the opening.
"I'm going to stay here for a bit. Just to think. I'll be back before 11." She nodded and then flew down the shoot. I turned back to the city and sat on the edge. As I looked at sea of lights that sparkled like stars that led to the towering castle in the distance. I don't know why but something drew me to it and I couldn't take my eyes off of it.
"I know you can't here me, mom. But i'm doing what you said. I'm working to help people. I hope I make you proud. I also hope you don't mind that I got a new mom. I know you would like her. She's a lot like you." I was holding back tears and I don't know why I was crying . I couldn't help but think of my mother as I looked at the sea of stars that was above me and below me."She's fiercely protective and she won't let me do stupid stuff. She cares for me and makes sure I have what I need. She doesn't hesitate to tell me when I'm doing something stupid or dangerous. I hope you get a chance to meet her at some point." I had tears slowly falling down my face and hitting my lap. I chuckled before I continued to speak."You would like Phoebe and Nemesis too. They are both brave and confident. They aren't afraid to get angry with me for doing something dangerous but they both care for me. When I was sick Phoebe helped me get better. But, as much as I love them all they will never replace you. I hope you are having fun with the family. I have to go. Sleep well mom."
I stood and turned around to find Hecate standing behind me with tears running down her face. I opened my arms and she launched herself into a hug.
"Oh, Percy, I don't want to replace your mother. I want to help you grow into the fine man she knew you could be. I hope I'm doing a good job." I nodded and then burst out laughing.
"I don't think this can get anymore cliche. Crying on a roof top in the middle of the night. At least it's not raining. But thank you. For, everything." Hecate nodded and gestured for me to walk ahead of her. I jumped down the shoot and smiled when Hecate appeared next to me.
We talked absent about miscellaneous things as we made our way to my room. When we finally reached the door I gave her a quick hug and headed inside to go to sleep. I walked in to see Nemesis asleep on the couch. I laughed and covered her with a blanket. I then headed to my room and headed to my bathroom to take a shower and get ready for bed. Finally I went to bed excited for tomorrow and my adventures in the city.
