Season 1, Episode 12

Athena Nikolaou-Gibbs's POV

I smiled as I got off the airplane, ready to see my husband, Jethro, again. I spent the last six months visiting family in Agios Nikolaos, a Greek coastal city in Crete. I was glad to be back in the States, ready to visit Ducky, Gerald, and Tony. When I moved to the U.S., I worked for the FBI but ultimately transferred to NCIS so I could work with Jet more, Fornell was pissed but he can get over it. 

My phone rang and I picked it up, my Greek accent strongly showing, "Athena, speaking." Director Morrow chuckled, "Well, I guess that we'll have the pleasure of hearing the accent again, Nikolaou." I laughed and walked out to the taxi I flagged down, "Director, I have always had the accent, it's just stronger because I visited family." Morrow laughed, "True. I'm glad you're back, Gibbs is cranky and they have a new case, you feel like helping them out?" 

I smiled, "Director, it's my job. Text me the address and I'll meet them there. I have everything at the office, but helping them out until we get there won't be a big deal." We exchanged goodbyes and Morrow texted me the location, I leaned forward to tell the driver where to head to. "Driver, please head to Clarksburg, West Virginia. I'll pay triple for a speedy arrival." I saw the driver's eyes widen and I grinned as he pressed the gas. 

I smiled as I saw the NCIS van that Ducky drove, asking the driver to stop so I could get out, "Thank you so much, sir." I handed the money to the driver, grabbed my luggage, and walked over to the van, setting my things down. "It's good to see you again, Ducky. Gerold." Gerold smiled and hugged me tightly, "It's good to see you too! How is the family?" I smiled, "They are doing great. The cousins really enjoyed the books, Ducky. Thank you so much." 

Ducky smiled and hugged me, "Anytime, my dear. It's good to have you back, Jethro was becoming increasingly cranky that you weren't here." I giggled, "Phone calls every night isn't enough for the man apparently." Gerold chucked, "Husband, 2 o'clock." I didn't have time to turn around before being picked up by Jethro and I giggled as he laughed. "Long time no see, Agent Gibbs," Jet said as he kissed my head. I smiled and hugged him, "I missed you. I only visit family once every five years, you'll be okay for a week to yourself. This one only took six months because we were celebrating my brother's wedding." 

Jet smiled, "We got a new team member," We walked over to Tony and a woman and Tony smiled, hugging me, "It's nice to see you again Mom." I giggled and hugged him back, "Hello Tones. Now, who is this lovely young lady?" My Greek accent came out strong and the woman blushed, "Um. Hello. My name is Caitlin Todd. Todd or Cait would work ma'am." I giggled and hugged her, "Please. Call me Athena." Jet gave a deadpan look to both of them, "It's going to be either Gibbs or Nikolaou to you two. Dinozzo, don't call her that." 

Jet walked away and I smirked, whispering to Cait, "If you call me mom, Jet isn't going to be mad. He loves it." Cait smiled, "So are you married to Gibbs?" I nodded, "Have been for six years, I just got back from my home island when I was visiting family. If you hadn't noticed, I'm from Greece." I stood up straight and nodded to them, "Okay, you two. Case time." I walked away and briefly heard "How did Gibbs get her to marry him" from Cait and a chuckle from Tones, "The question is: How did she grab his attention". I smiled and kept walking over to the crime scene. 

"You think finding the severed leg of a Marine is funny?" Jet got in the officer's face and I shook my head fondly. "No, sir. No, sir, I don't," the officer looked down in shame. Jet rolled his eyes and I spoke up softly, "Find the rest of the body?" The officer looked at me, "Not yet ma'am. The local chief of police has his boys checking all the dumpsters and the town garbage pit. Well, I'll leave you all to it," The officer tipped his hat to me respectfully and walked away.
