Season 1, Episode 13

Athena Gibbs POV

Jethro stopped the car at a Marine Recruitment building and we got out. I sighed, "Not something I wanted to be done so early this morning. I know how much this hits home for you." Jet nodded, "It's okay, sweetheart. I'm with you on that."  We walked into the building and started working, looking at the crime scene and making every note possible.

"If it's any consolation, Gibbs, Gunnery Sergeant Alvarez's death was almost instantaneous." Jethro knelt near Alvarez's body, "His C.O's on the way down here, Duck. Can we move him yet?" Ducky sighed and shook his head, "We can't place him on the gurney until we take pictures." I snorted, "Ducky, say something. I can do it, just let me grab the camera." Jet shook his head, "Not that I don't want you to, but when you take pictures your hands shake. Let Cait do it." I sighed, "Fair enough. Don't blame you."

Ducky groaned, "Besides Gerold has the camera and he's nowhere to be found." Jethro just looked at Alvarez and muttered to Ducky, "Can we hurry it up? I don't think Gunnery Sergeant Alvarez would appreciate being seen like this." Ducky looked confused, "You knew the man?" Jethro just turned around, "Nope." I looked at Ducky apologetically and Ducky leaned down to the body, "If it's any consolation, Gunny, Gibbs, and Mrs. Athena are the absolute best we got. My assistant, on the other hand, excuse me, but that's the problem today, isn't it? The technological advances of the so-called Internet Generation. With their MP-3 players, iPods, and video games. Spinning themselves into a self-induced state of attention deficit disorder. Athena, when you were a child, did you have any of that?"

I giggled and looked around the room for any clues, "Duckman, I am fifty-three years old. When I was a child, we didn't even have a TV or radio. We were on an island with just nature and sunshine to keep us busy. I spend most of the time, running with my friends and cliff-jumping into the sea below. Playing soccer with a ball filled with dirt and covered with cow leather because none of us could afford to buy one. Oh boy, but there was this one stunningly handsome Greek male I went to school with-" Jethro coughed and looked at me with a raised eyebrow and I giggled, "I never dated him. He was just great to look at. I love you." Jethro chuckled, "I guess it's okay. I'm married to you, no one else." He kissed my lips sweetly, "It's also your only one since I flirted with Dorn's killer." I smirked, "No more flirting. At all."

I turned around and sternly looked at Tony, "DiNozzo, where is our bullet?" Jethro smirked and kept looking around. "Hopefully in this box or the wall behind it. Got your knife on you, boss?" I pulled out a knife and handed it to him, "Rule number nine, Tony. Recite it to me." Cait walks in, "Never go anywhere without a knife." I smiled and nodded to her and then looked at Tony, "Better start memorizing those rules. Jet might start smacking. I'm just looking out for you, Tones." Tony whispered, "Thanks, Mom." Jet rolled his eyes, "You have to let them fail, don't help them. What do you got, Cait, I have an antsy wife who wants to help and a dead Marine."

Cait sighs, "The kids can't tell us much, except for where Alvarez was sitting when he was popped. Several people reported hearing a gunshot around thirteen hundred, but no eyewitnesses." Tony opened up a box and grinned, pulling out a photo, "I bet you had no problem getting dates wearing one of these, Gibbs."

Jet had a straight face, "Dating wasn't my problem in the Corps, DiNozzo. I also need more than a uniform to snag Athena." I giggled, "While the uniform was very attractive on you, I need more assurance that you were worth my time." Jethro smiled, "Blunt yet right. What did the LEOs say?" Cait sighs, "It might be gang-related. Alvarez had a few run-ins with the locals. Last month, they threw a cinder block through the window here."

Jet sighed and looked at the window as Tony groaned, "Well, if it was gang-bangers they're packing serious heat." I walked over and cussed, "σον οφ α βιτψη. It went straight through the sheetrock, into what looks like," I looked into the bullet hole, "some kind of toy warehouse." I took my knife from Tony when he held it out and Jet looked at Tony and Cait, "You two better get moving. Don't come back without my bullet." Cait looked at Tony, "What was that first part that she said?" Tony shrugs, "Only Gibbs knows a little bit. I'm starting to learn Greek in my off time. You should too, we can have conversations without Gibbs." Jet sternly looked at him, "I heard that!" We both walk out of the building to get Ducky.
