Kill Ari Pt. 2

Athena's POV

I looked around Abby's office and wrapped my leg tightly, standing up. I winced as some pain was there, but quickly ignored it and hurried to the stairs, not wanting anyone to see where I was going. I traced Ducky's phone call, knowing that Ari would call him to get Ducky to hear his 'I'm innocent' story. I opened the door to Ducky's car and he jumped, "Athena! Why do you insist on scaring me? I believe I'm in quite a hurry to get home, but Jethro can-" 

I cut him off, "I'm going with you to see Ari." Ducky looked shocked, "What on Earth are you talking about?" I deadpanned, "I knew Ari would call you sooner or later to try and convince you of his innocence. Gerald's in trouble." Ducky sighed and started driving, "Jethro's going to kill me." I muttered, "Jethro's going to do nothing. I have a reason for this."

Ducky parked at the spot Ari told him to and Gerald's lights flashed, "There they are." We both got out and started walking to Gerald's car. Ducky and I started walking towards Gerald and Gerald shook his head, "No, no, no. You shouldn't have come, Doctor. Why did you bring Mom?" Ducky didn't look happy, "Don't worry, Gerald. I didn't know she was attending until she got into my car. Besides, couldn't let the bastard put a bullet in your good shoulder, or you'd never return to work. Do you have your cellphone?" 

Gerald sighed, "Ari took it." I sighed, "Don't turn back until you're behind the wheel, Gerald. Where is Ari?" Gerald gritted his teeth, "In the backseat." Ducky nodded, "Well when we reach your car, I'll lean in through the open window, while Athena doesn't engage. That's your cue to drive off fast." Gerald didn't turn around, "Dr. Mallard.." Ducky ignored him, "Go straight to NCIS. Tell Gibbs everything that's happened."

Ducky leaned into the car and Ari smiled, "You look surprised. And you brought a friend." I sighed, "Hello, cousin." Ari looked at me guilty, "How are you doing, Thena?" I grimaced, "Well, not really supposed to be walking, but you know. Okay." Ducky nodded, "I expected to be shot." Ari looked offended, "Doctor, please. I would never harm a fellow physician." Ducky didn't sound happy, "What about Athena? Thought you wouldn't harm her?" I looked behind me to see Gerald struggling with Ducky's car and Ducky yelled, "Use the clutch! Good God, man, use the clutch!" 

I facepalmed as Ari got out of the car and the gears grinded in Ducky's car, causing Ducky to sound distressed, "You're stripping the gears!" Ari stood, leaning on the car door beside me, "This is too painful, Doctor." I sighed, looking at Ari, "Cousin, you kinda have to give Gerald a pass for this. It was a good plan until the standard transmission baffled Gerald." Ducky yelled to Gerald, "Gerald, turn it off!" Ari looked at Ducky, "Obviously Gerald does not have an intimate relationship with a standard transmission." 

Ducky stared at Gerald, "Unbelievable. Athena, I thought you said you would teach Gerald a standard transmission?" I looked offended, "I was! Until this bozo shot him!" I pointed at Ari and he chuckled, "Really, cousin? Bozo? The price of growing up in America, wouldn't you say, Thena? That was so unnecessary, Doctor. Gerald is free to leave.....in his own car." Ari patted Ducky's back and I tried to hide my giggles, causing Ducky to look at me, angry, "You find that funny? He almost destroyed my car!" I took a breath, "I'm sorry, Duck. It's just the whole anti-climatic point of both of you panicking." Ducky sighed, "Unbelievable." 

Ari, Ducky, and I walked back to Ducky's car and Ari nodded, "Did you buy it in such a pristine condition?" Ducky shook his head, "God, no. The frame had severe termite damage." Ari walked ahead of me as my phone kept getting called, "That's right. The Morgan has a wood frame." I put my phone on silent and ignored Jethro's calls, only texting Abby: At Rigley Imporium."
