Chapter 17 The Ransom Part 2

As Willy paced back and forth, waiting for an answer, he suddenly jumped when he heard his telephone ringing. (Willy has a wall phone in his house.)

The police shushed everybody and made their way to the receiver. Hopefully, this was the call they had been waiting for to get Tina back.

Willy shuddered. All he wanted was his daughter back safe and sound.

The police picked up the receiver. They handed it to Willy.

"Be cool, and don't have any fear in your voice. Let's see what he wants.", whispered one of the cops. Willy nodded. Despite being scared, he knew he had to keep his cool. Especially during a time such as this.

"Hello.", Willy said as bravely as he could. On the other line, it was Mr. Bristles. "Hello, Willy, Tina is right here and I need you to pay attention because what you will do now will determine whether or not you see Tina again. I want you and your son, Bonzo, to wire me 5,000 dollars from each of you and give to me in a small suitcase. Leave it on my front doorstep along with Bonzo with no police or any one of your other kids. Then, Tina will be released to you. You will meet her at the front door when I get the money on the step. Are there any questions?", he asked after he explained everything.

Willy and Bonzo shook their heads no. "No, there isn't. I will do as you say.", he said.

"Perfect."

There was a dial tone. Mr. Bristles had no more to say to Willy.

Willy and Bonzo made their way to their own savings account in the bank. They both took out 5,000 dollars each. Then, they both made made their way to the house where Tina was held captive.

This was it.

"You got the suitcase?", asked Willy. Bonzo nodded. "Yeah.", he replied. "OK, remember, stay behind me and don't say anything. Let me do the talking.", he demanded. Bonzo nodded. He knew that Tina's life was in his hands just as much as it was in Willy's.

It was time.

Everyone else waited at home. The remaining five kids were pacing back and forth. They couldn't do anything else but wait. Other officers tried to get them to calm down. But, it was all for naught. Albert and Hector did their best to calm Pop and Tito down. Though it was hard to do so, since Pop and Tito wouldn't listen and that Albert and Hector were very scared as well and they themselves were trying not to panic.

Time seemed to go by so slow. There was  absolutely no sign of anything. The police were told not to go along with Willy and Bonzo. But, they did place a tracker on Willy's suitcase where the money would go, to nab Mr. Bristles at his house after everything was done.

"I hope Tina, Bonzo, and Willy will be OK.", said Pop as he held on tightly to Albert. "Don't worry, Pop. They will all he OK and we will all get through this as a family.", he reassured despite not truly believing his words. It was more like a hope than the truth to Albert at that time.

Hector and Tito looked at each other in fear.

Mr. Bristles came out when he heard the thump. He knew it was the suitcase with the money thudding on the steps.

Tina was still tied up and gagged. Soon, he came down the stairs into the basement. Tina looked up and saw Mr. Bristles coming around to face her.

"Well, Missy, are you ready to go?", he said in a condensending tone. Tina nodded as she grunted in anger. "Careful, that anger can get you killed. Be thankful that was a failed attempt of acting out in my book.", he said.

He untied Tina and made his way to the door. He opened it and saw the suitcase along with Bonzo and Willy standing at the door. He frowned.

"OK, it looks like you guys followed my directions correctly.", he said. Willy glared intensely. "All right, we are here and we did what we were asked, now give me back my daughter, Tina.", he demanded.

Mr. Bristles grinned. Tina knew what that grin meant.

He would not uphold his end of the deal.

Mr. Bristles chuckled as he stared down Willy. "I don't think so. This girl destroyed everything I had, I am just going to return the favor."

Willy gasped. Tina was now really in trouble.

Bonzo slowly slipped a Swiss Army knife behind his back and to Tina while Mr. Bristles was occupied. Tina slowly and subtly cut herself free from the ropes and undid her gag.

As soon as Mr. Bristles went to act on his next plan, Bonzo and Tina attacked! They ambushed Mr. Bristles and took him down. They slapped him and kicked him off his feet. Willy grabbed both Tina and Bonzo and took them away from Mr. Bristles while he was down and distracted.

The three ran away as fast as they could. They got in the car and made a break for it.

"Hold on!", Willy shouted as he slammed the gas pedal.

Mr. Bristles got up and growled. "NOOOOOO!!!!!!!! You are gonna pay you three! MARK MY WORDS!!!!!!"

The chase was on!
