CHAPTER VI - PUPPIES
The next morning I woke up to find an empty space next to me. She didn't stay. I got up and washed my face before heading downstairs. When I got into the kitchen, the fresh smell of avocados and toast filled the room. "What's this?" I asked and she turned to face me after noticing my presence, "Oh it's just avocado on toast with some spicy honey sauce. Do you like avocado or should I make someth-?"
"Don't worry bunny, I like avocados," I reassured, patting her head and sitting opposite of her. All I could think about while staring at her was yesterday night. I wanted to thank her, nobody had ever done something like that for me and we have only been hanging out for a few days yet she took better care of me than anyone ever did. "Bunny," she looked up and met my eyes before quickly focusing on the food again, "I want to thank you, for yesterday, it really meant a lot to me what you did. I got a good night's rest for the first time in a while."
She chuckled before responding, "Hoon, you don't have to thank me for something like that." I rested my chin on my palm before asking, "Hoon?"
She froze for a second and handed me my plate and a cup of juice, "Well you know, you have a nickname for me so yesterday I came up with one for you, but I'll change it if you don't like it-"
"I love it." I quickly interrupted her before she could finish off her sentence. "Okay, well eat your sandwich before it gets cold."
After hanging out for a bit longer we decided that it was time to take her back home. I wanted her to stay longer but we had school tomorrow and she couldn't stay here forever. "Hey bunny, are we friends now?" I wanted to get clarification from her on what we were.
"Yeah, we're friends, so long as you don't post that photo of me everywhere." She was holding her apartment door open and was about to walk in before she said "Wait, Hoon, can you not tell anyone about our friendship. I'm not ashamed of it, I just don't want the attention on me."
I nodded and watched her as she went inside. It did hurt that she wanted to keep our friendship quiet but I didn't mind it too much.
