Jedediah lay on his stomach. His clothes were torn from what Kah did so he wouldn't block Octavius. He didn't realize how much pent-up anger Kah had until that last beating.

He was in so much pain he didn't know if he could go into the studio. Which wasn't good as he could lose the role he worked so hard to get.

Jedediah groaned and stood up. He limped to the bathroom and looked in the mirror. His face was covered in cuts and bruises, the rest of his body no doubt the same way.

"It's okay, Jed. Kah will get over this an' take ya out for a nice dinner soon. It'll all be okay. Yer happy with Kah. There ain't no reason why ya aren't."

Jedediah sighed and laughed sadly.

"Everythin' will be okay."

He left the bathroom. Kah wasn't home, but Jed's phone lay smashed on the counter. Jed froze, tears welling up in his eyes. He had hoped to strike up a conversation with Octavius, but that won't happen soon.

"It'll be okay, ya'll see."

Jedediah grabbed his keys and went downstairs. He got into his car, knowing he couldn't walk to work. One of his ankles felt broken.

Jedediah took a deep breath and drove. He soon arrived at the studio, silently praying no one would see how horrible he looked. If they did, he didn't have an excuse.

He exited his car and limped inside, going to the front desk. "Hey. Sorry, I'm late; somethin' came up."

Rebecca sighed. "You're lucky Larry wants you in this movie." She grabbed a card and looked up. "Are you okay? You're—"

"I'm as fit as a fiddle. Ain't nothin' to worry 'bout here."

Rebecca sighed, giving him the card. "Third door down on the left. Good luck."

Jedediah nodded and went to the room. He swiped the card, and the door opened. The director, Larry Daley, grinned when he saw Jed.

"Jed! You're here!"

Jedediah nodded. "I sure as hell am. Sorry, it took me so lon'. My phone broke so that I couldn't text ya."

Larry frowned when he got close to Jed. "You're not looking too good. Do you need to sit down?"

"No. I can do this just fine."

Larry bit his lip and nodded. "You've read your part of the script, right?"

"I have."

"Jed, could you hang back?"

Jedediah nodded. "Of course."

Larry walked to him and sat down in front of him. "Is everything okay?"

"Why wouldn't it be?"

"You're pretty beaten up. Is everything okay at home?"

Jedediah tensed up and looked away. "Yep. Nothin's goin' on at home."

"I'll always be there if you need to talk about things."

"Thank ya."

"Any time. Don't be afraid to ask for help."
