Chapter 8: Ahkmenrah's Help

Octavius insisted on taking Jedediah to the hospital after his shift ended. After Jed was dropped off, Octavius visited his best friend, Ahkmenrah. He didn't get to see Ahk as much as he used to. Ahk's family was resituating themselves after the eldest son was disowned, and Ahk was helping his parents with their will. 

Octavius pulled up to his friend's manor. He had no clue how he managed to befriend the wealthiest family in town without realizing it for nearly a year. 

He got out of his car and walked to the door. He knocked. Ahk was the one to open the door.

"Oct! Come on in!"

Ahk moved aside, letting Octavius come inside. Octavius came inside, looking around in silent awe. Octavius still was in awe of the fanciness of the place, no matter how many times he came over. 

The pair went to Ahk's room. Oct sat on the floor while Ahk took the bed. 

"So, what brings you here?"

Octavius fiddled with his fingers. "I recently hooked up with a man. We both had gotten drunk. We've gotten together a few times."

Ahkmenrah nodded. "And?"

"I learned he's dating someone."

"Oh. I'm sorry, Octavius."

"It's not your fault. I don't know how long he's been with this other person. I don't think it's a very healthy relationship."

"Oct—"

"I'm not saying it because I'm jealous. I'm genuinely concerned about him. He has bruises. I took him to the hospital earlier. His ankle's broken."

Ahk gasped. "Do you know who he's with?"

Octavius nodded. "No. He won't tell him who this person is. I want to help him, but I don't know how I can."

Ahkmenrah sighed. "I'll help you figure this out."

"Thank you. I want to see him safe."

As much as he wanted it, Octavius knew Jedediah wasn't his. He had to get over his emotions so Jed could get out of this toxic relationship. Octavius didn't care if Jedediah never felt the same about him as long as Jedediah was safe.
