Octavius couldn't believe he let himself fall for someone only to get ghosted. He tried not to think about it. It hadn't even been a day since their meet-up. Surely Jedediah is just busy.
Octavius entered the café he worked at. His eyes were sunken in. He wished Jedediah was there, even scanning the area for Jed. He was disappointed to see that he wasn't there.
Hours into his shift, a familiar blond entered the café. Octavius couldn't help his heart skipping a beat.
Until he saw how bad he looked, causing his heart to sink. What happened to him?
"Katy, can I take my 30?"
"Yep."
"Thank you."
"Of course."
Octavius clocked out on his 30 and sat next to Jed. "Jedediah."
"Octavius."
"Are you okay?"
"Yep. I'm fine." An obvious lie.
"I sent you a text."
"Ya did?"
Octavius frowned. "I did. Did you not see it?"
"My... roommate... accidentally stepped on my phone this morning."
"I see... and your bruises?"
Jedediah froze, his eyes going wide. "Uh..."
"Jed?"
"It ain't anythin' important."
"You're clearly hurt." Octavius scanned his body, frowned. "Your ankle. You need to get that checked out."
Jedediah shook his head. "I've gotta go. Kah's probably worried 'bout me."
"Who?"
Jedediah looked away. "My... boyfriend."
"Oh." Octavius paused. "Oh! Oh..."
