New Year and New Faces

"SQUIRT!" Boomed Andrew Derick's voice.

Neo nearly jumped from his bed and onto the floor over the loud voice from his guardian. After shaking his head, he got up, dizzy and tired. Then, his door was opened by Andrew. He looked at the kid in bed and sighed.

"Neo Phoenix. Did you stay up late last night?"

"No. I tried to get to sleep, but was unable to until I finally slept." Neo explained as he rubbed his eyes.

"Hmm. We will have to get that checked. In the meantime, you need to hurry up." Andrew then pointed at Neo's alarm clock. The latter turned to see and to his horror, School was about to start in 10 minutes.

"SHIT!" Neo hurried around his room, getting dressed and getting his backpack. He rushed passed Andrew and took a poptart from the pantry as a quick breakfast. "BYEMASTERDERICKILLSEEYOUAFTERSCHOOL!" Neo shouted as he slammed the door shut and got to his bike and pedaled as if his life depends on it.

Andrew chuckled as he shook his head. "I hope he gets there before the bell."

Neo was moving so fast that he went past the cars and the cross-way right before the light changed. He apologized to many people as he passed them quickly. He was determined to make it to school. He cannot be lat on his third year. He can't. He was never late before, and he would be damned if he would be late this time.

With every pedal and every breath, he was going at full speed without thinking of the danger. Then again, how can it be more dangerous than the last two years? The first was when he and the others had to face Imamura and Corvus. The second year was facing his hated enemy, Tabo. Now even though he won, he wished that this year would be danger free. But then again, how can it be?

With only 7 minutes left, Neo took a shortcut to help save time and make it right before the bell rings. After a minute, he saw right ahead of him his high school, Nintendo High. Like before with Sakurai as a Principle, there were so many students there. Ludus, Anthro, and Humans. He can see some old and new faces. Some old faces have already graduated and are off to collage or having a new job to raise money for a new life. He wondered if he would make new friends to join the group and see if any old friends are there as well. But what he was searching for was his friends. He made it to the bike parking spot and locked his bike quickly before he rushed inside.

As he opened the door, Stan was right there, about to walk outside to see if Neo was coming. They nearly bumped. But were able to dodge each other.

"Bro! There you are! Come on! Class is gonna start!" Stan said before he turned to run towards class. Neo followed him and took a look at his schedule paper telling him where and what class he's taking. Then a thought popped into his head.

"Stan. Are you taking English class at room 220?"

"Yes? You too?"

"It said so here. Jeez. Three years in a row. Going for four?

"I bet. But come on! We're nearly there!"

The two rushed passed several students, while also passing several posters and banners saying 'Welcome back" all over. They were also greeted by students saying "hi" or "welcome back" as they rushed to their classroom. Finally, they made it to the room, with only 2 minutes to spare. Neo and Stan took several breaths, Neo taking more, and they both saw Loona, Krystal, Isabelle, and Alaria. They came to the desks next to them and started talking.

"You cut it in a little too close. Did you have trouble?" The little Dog Ludus asked.

"No. I just didn't sleep good last night because I wasn't tired." Neo said.
