"Just cry all you want. I'm here for you." Sasuke said in a soothing voice.
Sakura thought she had no more tears left to cry. But when Sasuke said that, she was tearing up again and clutching his shirt for comfort. The pinkette let out all of the bottled emotions she was suppressing and cried her heart out. Her voice cracked and quivered as she mourned the death of her mother.
They were not yet close, but Sakura allowed herself to crumble in Sasuke's arms.
At that exact moment, both Shikamaru and Naruto arrived at the scene. Shikamaru was worried that Sakura might have been hurt but when he saw Sasuke already hugging her, he halted and could only look at them. Pain reflected in his eyes.
"Shikamaru, what's wrong with Shiro?" Naruto asked concerned. His gaze kept switching between the two and the young Nara. "Does Sasuke-Teme knows what's wrong with him?"
"It seems like it," is what Shikamaru could only answer."Sasuke might also know everything." He continued under his breath, making Naruto look at him confused.
"What?" The blonde asked before he let out a desperate sigh. How come he's the only one who doesn't know what the hell is going on?!
Naruto was about to take a step forward when Shikamaru held out his hand and stopped him. He gave the blonde a meaningful look and slowly shook his head.
"Just let them be."
Sasuke slowly brought up his hand and soothingly caressed Sakura's pink locks. He glanced at his other two group members silently watching them and he suddenly felt uncomfortable by their clueless gaze. Even though he had done nothing wrong at all, he quickly avoided their gaze and cleared his throat.
"The others are watching," The ravennette whispered to the pinkette. "If you keep crying like this, they are going to find out."
Sakura stifled a sob and slowly pull away from Sasuke. "I'm sorry . . ." Her voice quivered as she tried to stop her tears from falling. "I'm sorry . . ."
"Shiro," Shikamaru called out, finally breaking his silence. He and Naruto approached them as Sasuke and Sakura stood up from their seat. "What's wrong?" He asked her. "Are you okay?"
"What's wrong, ttebayo?!" Now it's Naruto's turn to ask questions. "Sasuke-Teme, what happened?"
"What's . . . " Shikamaru's voice trailed off as he switched his gaze from Sakura to Sasuke. His eyes suddenly darkened. " . . . going on with Shiro?" He continued.
