Randy had officially finished his last day at the video store and the three teens (Belle, Randy, and Sidney) would soon embark on their cross country expedition to reach Ohio over the next two months.
The plan had always been for the group of six to go. Billy, Tatum, and Stu were all dead now and the other three had had a long discussion about whether they should still go or not.
They decided that Tatum would've been pissed if they hadn't gone because, as she would've put it, those other two dipshits killed her.
The day they left was filled with many tears. Belle's mother was bawling her eyes out, her older sister was telling her to call everyday, and her father had even shed a tear or two.
"You call everyday, Belle, or I swear to god I'll drive to Ohio," Leslie threatened.
"Maybe I'll have to miss a few days on purpose," Belle smiled, sad to leave her family behind so soon after Stu snapped.
"Do you have everything?" Her mother asked for seventy millionth time. Belle assured her mom that she hadn't lost anything since the last time she'd asked.
She gave her mother and father pecks on the cheek, Leslie a huge hug, and waved goodbye as she climbed in to her car.
Upon arriving at her next destination, Belle was glad her mother wasn't acting the same as Mrs. Meeks.
Randy looked like she'd been hugging and kissing him goodbye for the past hour. Belle couldn't help but laugh as she noticed the kick Martha was getting out of it.
Randy looked glad to see her and used it as an opportunity to get his mom to let go of him.
"Look mom, Bella's here. Don't you want to say goodbye to her?" Randy pleaded, nodding his head in her direction. As Mrs. Meeks looked at her son and then at Belle, she detached herself and gave Belle a hug as well.
Belle laughed to herself as she watched Randy hit Martha in the arm, causing her to stop laughing.
Mrs. Meeks looked at Belle very seriously, "Promise me you'll keep an eye on him,"
"Promise," Belle smiled. She walked over to where the Meeks siblings stood.
"Hey Martha," she greeted.
"Hi Belle," Martha smiled in return.
Belle looked at Randy, "Sid's not here yet, is she?" she asked.
"No, but she called right before she left her house. That was about ten minutes ago, she should be close." Randy replied.
Belle and Randy stood talking to Mrs. Meeks and Martha for about fifteen more minutes before Sidney pulled in to the driveway.
She climbed out of the driver seat and walked over to the group, "You guys ready?" she asked, a small smile on her face.
"As I'll ever be," Belle smiled. Randy gave his mother one last hug and kiss on the cheek. He hugged Martha now too. She seemed more upset than she had earlier at the prospect of her brother leaving for so many months.
A small tear rolled down her cheek as Randy smiled at her.
"I'll be back before you know it. Got it, snot face?" he joked.
