Belle watched as Gale left the campus security building, Cotton Weary following shortly behind.
The police hadn't had enough (or any) evidence against him, therefore, they couldn't hold him. The law was innocent until proven guilty, after all, not the other way around.
A few minutes after Gale left, Belle got up from the table too. She wanted to be anywhere Dewey and Sidney weren't. She wanted to be alone.
Belle jogged down the steps and saw Gale in a heated argument with some lady. She thought she knew the lady from somewhere, but she couldn't put her finger on from where.
She could hear someone behind her, "Belle, wait!"
It was Dewey. He reached and caught Belle's hand. She turned around quickly and felt her hand connect with Dewey's jaw. She'd landed a decent right hook.
"Fuck off, Dewey," she muttered, storming away from him. She may have had a small mental break, but she had far from forgiven Dewey.
Belle had noticed the woman Gale was talking to had walked away. Gale had started talking to Joel. She only briefly heard what Joel was saying, but it angered her enough that she stopped.
"My vans a crime scene, thanks to you, so here is your footage. I'm getting the fuck outta here," he said and started to walk away.
Belle grabbed his arm around his elbow and stopped him.
"Your vans a crime scene because somebody died in it, maybe a show a little respect," she said and let go of his arm.
Belle quickly made her way across the grassy lawn and to Randy and Mickey's dorm.
She let herself in, the door wasn't locked.
Belle didn't really know what she was doing standing in the doorway of the room. She looked around, everything was as the two had left it after watching Much Ado About Nothing. Belle walked over to his bed and sat down on it.
Popcorn, candy, and empty soda cans were scattered around the area. The TV and its grey cart had been turned to the side on the way out the door earlier.
The stolen copy of Much Ado About Nothing was no where to be seen. Belle found herself laying in his bed. She pulled the covers up to her eyes and cried.
Belle must have been in the bed crying for hours before she had no tears left.
She had been thinking about Randy and all the time they'd spent together.
The very first day they met, the very last they got together, and everything in between.
It all started in the fifth grade with a Hello Kitty backpack, a new girl, and an empty seat. The friendship had started amazingly.
Their very first date was as real as it could be for two seventh graders. Belle could remember Randy nervously asking her out and his mom driving them around. He'd shown up at the front door with a bouquet of roses and a smile on his face. Her dad had jokingly intimidated him and Stu had been in the other room laughing his ass off.
The first time he'd told her he loved her. They were just 16, juniors in high school, and barely had a clue what love was. It was three in the morning, Belle's parents were out of town, and they were watching a scary movie in her bedroom. Belle was terrified, she'd thrown popcorn at the TV at least four times, jumped six hundred times, and screamed a couple thousand times. Randy was rather entertained at her fear. He was holding her tightly to "protect" her from the monster under the bed. Belle wasn't entirely sure he'd done it on purpose, perhaps the small "I love you, Bella," had slipped out on accident in the fit of laughter he was having.
Their first kiss had been in the outdoor patio at the eighth grade dance. This was before Billy's mom had left. Tatum had mentioned a game of truth or dare, naturally Stu and Billy got drawn in to it. Billy had dared the kiss. It would always count in Belle's book.
Belle would always remember her panic attack in the middle of the school corridor. She'd gone on a supply run with Randy then. They'd watched Much Ado About Nothing in Randy's bed (after Mrs. Meeks had thrown soup for her sick daughter at Belle) and Randy had "hated" (notice the sarcasm quotes) every second of it then, too. They'd gone to the back yard and had sandwiches prepared by Randy's mom and simply chatted about their worries. Randy had admitted how much the thought of Belle being attacked had scared him.
She could forever remember all of the days she'd spent at Bradley Video after hours shelving movies. She'd bring four coffees from Buzzed, the coffee shop in downtown Woodsboro Belle worked at for all of her teenage years, for the teens who usually worked the graveyard shift at Bradley. Karen Kolchak, Danny Zarits, and of course Randy. The fourth coffee was for herself. If it was too late, she'd crash at Randy's instead of going home. It got so bad, Belle had an entire section of clothes in Randy's closet that she had left.
The cross country trip to get to Windsor had been entertaining too. Belle and Randy had taken over a thousand pictures at different monuments around the states. They'd gotten drunkenly (and legally) married in Vegas, Belle had ended up pregnant. They were going to have their own little family.
Belle blamed Dewey for Randy's death because if she didn't, she'd blame herself, and that could be dangerous.
Belle felt like her entire world had fallen apart in just one day.
She'd long ago told Randy he couldn't die first because she didn't know what to do without him.
And now he was dead.
Belle noticed out the window that the day had faded to night.
Before Belle knew what was happening, Sidney had burst in to the room.
"Belle! Come on! It's not safe, he killed Hallie, he's on his way, come on!" She yelled.
Belle jumped out of the bed and quickly slid on her shoes, the shock and adrenaline had cleared the tears from her eyes pretty quickly. Sidney started running and Belle closely followed suit.
The girls ended up in front of the theater hall and quickly ran inside. Sidney led them in to the actual theater.
"Hello? Dewey? Gale?" Sidney yelled.
"Not a good idea, Sid," Belle muttered, "You never say hello, haven't you ever watched a scary movie?"
"Not a huge fan," Sidney responded.
"Neither am I, but I've still seen them,"
"Randy was the love of your life, I'd imagine that's why you watched them," Sidney replied.
Belle shrugged, Sidney was right.
Belle didn't notice the creepy music until they'd stepped on to the stage.
"Hello?" Sidney called again, earning her a look from Belle.
Suddenly, the music stopped and a bright stage light turned on.
"That can't be good," Belle uttered as her and Sidney turned to look at each other.
"No fucking way it's even a little bit okay," Sidney mumbled in response.
