Jordan P.
I sat in the wooded area by a small river way. I recently found myself coming here often for a sense of peace and escape from reality. I typically bring my journal with me, but this particular day I just wanted to be one out in nature.
The sun shined bright in the blue sky and the weather felt great. Not too hot, not too cold, but just right. I climbed over the rock setting my book bag down and taking a seat on the smaller stone in front of it. I looked at the water and begin to just ponder on life at the moment. I'm blessed to say the least, my career is taking off more than I thought it would, even with the crap nay-sayers have to say about me. I'd be lying if I said some of the comments didn't bother me because they did, but they also fueled my will to go even harder every time I touch the court.
I continued to sit and enjoy the peace and tranquil of God's creation then I heard a couple of twigs snatch followed by a thud and 'ouch'. The noise alerted me; as much as I wanted to ignore it because the world is crazy and idk what could be waiting for me if I go check, but for some reason there was like a tug on my conscience to go check out what I heard. Getting up I made my way toward the direction of the noise, once I got to the spot I seen a girl sitting on the ground examining her ankle.
"You okay?" I asked startling her from the approach.
"Shit, you scared me. I think so, I tried stepping over a branch and instead slid on some twigs and branches." She said looking back at her ankle.
"Let me help you up." I said reaching my hands out for her to grab.
She grabbed my hands pulling herself up with me, but immediately fell back to the ground hissing in pain, grabbing her ankle again.
"My ankle really hurts damn." She said in pain.
"You might have a small sprain or something, I can carry you back to your car if you'd like me to?" I offered to her.
"Oh you don't have to, I can call my friend. I didn't drive here I road a trolley and walked the rest of the way here." She said pulling out her phone.
"Good luck... there's no reception out here love. That's why I like coming out here, no one can bother me." I said looking at her.
"Damnit.. I didn't know that." She said sighing.
"This must be your first time out here huh?" I asked.
"Yeah.. I'm new to the city actually, just accepted a new job and wanted to find a hiking trail, so I came here, but we see how unsuccessful that turned out." She said.
"Look I promise I don't mind helping you out, especially now that you're injured." I said bending down to her eye level.
"Okay. This is so embarrassing; sprain my ankle possibly only for a good looking boy to swoop in like a knight in shining armor." She said chuckling.
I followed her up with a chuckle too as I indeed swooped down and picked her up bridal style, making my way down the path that would lead us back to the parking lot. I walked her back to my car since she told me she didn't drive here. I reassured her I wasn't some weirdo, but I didn't want to just leave her by herself and she couldn't even walk.
Once we made it to my car I opened my passenger side door, gently sitting her on the seat. I'm no doctor, but as an athlete I've had my share of ankle problems, so I went in my bag grabbing the compression tape I carried on me and begin to wrap her ankle some.
"You're car is nice as hell." She said, I looked up to see her examining my car's interior. I didn't pay attention before, but she was absolutely stunning. Brown/blonde mid-back length curls adorned her face. Her skin clear and brown with chocolate brown eyes covered by a pair of black framed glasses.
