"What the fuck?"

"Is this for real?" I chimed and widen my eyes.

"How the fuck could he be so fine with a dead hood?" I blurted at Tiana and crossed my arms.

Tiana was now Nyla's permanent babysitter. I figured that since we were family and she wasn't working she was the perfect person to stay with Nyla especially since she had nowhere else to live. Tiana had also become my go to person when Bryan deserted me. I guess it's for the best because I can expect Tiana's unbiased response at all times. Bryan's advice was sometimes clouded with jealousy.

Tiana shook Nyla in her arms and giggled.

Tiana was two years younger than me. She looked a lot like me except she has a fair complexion and a natural, brownish color short hair. She is a good girl but she wasn't quick to go after the things she wanted like me.

"Lawd a mercy!" I snorted.

 "When me ready and want the hood the hood dead like auntie foul head"

Cedric was the perfect replacement for Star boy. His vibe and personality were top tier but he fell short in one little area. The universe or karma was indeed working in Star boy's favor.

I rolled my eyes

I heard a knock at the door and held my mouth.

"Yes?" Tiana answered.

"Who that?"

"Ashleigh deh home?" The voice asked.

"A who that?" Tiana whispered to me, her voice was so low I could barely hear a word. I had to read her lips.

I opened the door. Star boy stood in the doorway in a white tank top and cotton Hollister shorts. He was clean shaved and smelled fresh. I eyed him from head to toe and licked my lips. He was too damn fine for his age.

"Nyla ready?" he asked without looking at me.

I just remembered that I stood him up yesterday.

"Yes let me go get her" I responded timidly.

I walked back inside and took Nyla from Tiana.

"My Ny" he echoed and tickled Nyla when he took her from my arms.

"Nyla" her sister shouted from the car.

"What time will she be back?" I stuttered.

"When we finish eating Ice cream!" Star boy answered in a coarse tone.

"Ok then," I said and sucked my teeth.

When I got back inside Tiana demanded that I tell her what was what.

"Why lover boy a behave so?" she mocked.

"Like you finally lock shop on him"

"Stood him up yesterday"

Tiana nodded and looked at me as if she was really trying to understand what I was saying.

Tiana plopped down on the sofa beside me.

I narrowed my eyes at her.

She gave off a laugh.

"Maybe he was too anxious" I interrupted.

I decided to text Star boy.

Me: We need to talk

Me: Can we spend some time when you come back with Nyla?

Me: Please

I waited and waited some more but Star boy did not respond.
