Chapter 9

Cedric picked me up at exactly 8 o'clock.
He drove a Black SUV. When the car pulled up at my gate he stepped out of the vehicle and came over to the passenger side to open the door for me. It left me in deep awe. His cologne coupled well with his suit. Yes, he wore a suit. He had called earlier to inform me that we were not just going for drinks but he was taking me to a nice evening outing at lashings. That's the finest chill spot in Junction St Elizabeth. I must say, I was anxious for the evening getaway and the chance to be in the presence of a man who seemed like he knew how to treat a woman. He was different I could tell. He was high value and I liked it.
"Hi, Ashleigh" he greeted and exposed his perfect white teeth.
He had a tremendous smile. One I could sure get used to seeing.
"Hi Cedric" I greeted and blew out a long breath as I tried to console my emotions.  His aura was so captivating.
I entered the vehicle and he closed the door.
I got on my phone to text my cousin. She was the one staying with Nyla.
Me: Girllll he is so fine!!!!
Tiana: Girl I saw! I was peeping at him through the window!!!
Tiana: Have fun boo, you deserve this.
"Do you like music?" Cedric asked and smiled at me. I admired how his smile showed his teeth but not too much.
I nodded.
"Mhmm"
"I love music"
Cedric made me feel calm. His aura did not disrupt my soul. He took my breath away and I silently begged God that he was the one. I thought nothing could spoil this moment until Star boy texted me.
Star boy: I'm coming over there now
Me: Excuse me?
Me: Why? Nyla should be sleeping
Star boy: Should be? Sound like you don't sure.
I looked at his message and frowned. This man was delusional. Mother fucka wanted to have his cake and eat it. I stare at Nyla's picture on my display wallpaper, she was the spitting image of her dad. Something that I will have to live with for the rest of my life.
"What's wrong?" Cedric asked and glanced at me them redirected his focus to the road.
"It's nothing" I responded and half-smile.
"You sure?" he asked and glance at me again. There it was again, his soothing smile.
I blushed a little and touch my cheek.
"I don't want to burden you with my pain"
"It's complicated"
"I'll be fine soon"
My phone started to vibrate.
I looked down at the phone in my hand.
Star boy was calling. I declined the call.
He began to call again. I declined the call again.
"Your boyfriend?" Cedric asked. This time he did not look at me.
"No, well sorta " I stuttered.
"Make up your mind baby girl" Cedric crooned.
"He is my daughter's father" I began saying.
"I told him we are done but he won't get it through his head"
Star boy: Weh you deh Ashleigh??
Star boy: Me a come fi me pickney
Star boy: Make sure you don't bring her round any man to confuse her
Star boy: Kmt think you did different
Me: Me think you did different too
"Maybe he loves you too much to leave" Cedric muttered.
"I mean, you are a sweet girl"
"Sexy as hell"
I bit the side of my bottom lip when he said I was sexy.
"He's not a good man anymore"
"He hurts me and I can't forgive that" I whimpered.
Star boy: Ashleigh bill
Star boy: Right now you a fuck with me medz
Star boy: Where the fuck are you?
"Maybe you should give him a chance to explain himself" Cedric proclaimed.
"Do you like me or not?" I questioned.
"Cause you not sounding like you do right now!"
Cedric laughed.
"I do but I also want you to be sure you are over him before I like you more"
Cedric gently banged his fist on his chest."I gotta protect my peace"
I exhaled and switched off my phone.
"See" I showed him my phone screen.
Cedric smiled."Ok sweet lady"
We got to lashings and Cedric directed me to a table by holding the low of my back. My soul screamed for him to let me go. We got to the table and sat opposite to each other. He motioned his hand to a waiter and the waiter walked over to us. We ordered some light drinks consisting of run and fruit punch juice. The waiter said it was their signature special.
"So Ashleigh"
"How did you manage to build such a thriving business on your own?"
I snickered. "That's easy" I let out and instantly regretted it. I didn't want to seem cocky.
"Me and God of course"
"Once God is in it then..." I said softly.
Cedric's eyes brighten."Oh yeah?"
"And my daughter's father of course"
Cedric's brows furrow. I felt embarrassed.
I realized I sounded like I was bragging. I didn't want to sound like I was bragging. Men hated when women were more thriving than them especially if they brag about it. I have noticed that it seemed very hard for a successful woman to get a man. Successful women tend to make them feel intimated of some sort.
"Uhm he helped me financially" I added after a few.
"He loves you, man," he said with a playful smile."A man doesn't invest in a woman that doesn't hold his heart."
"Ok," I spat.
"Enough about my arduous life"
I gaped at him and peered into his bold eyes."Tell me about you"
"I don't remember ever seeing you around so I know you are not from here" I admitted.
He scratched his head and peeked at me through on eye. He appeared goofy and I liked that in a man. He smiled and his smile made him look even more handsome.
"I'm an ex-con"
"You know? I was in prison and now I'm out and looking for a change"
He glanced at me as if he was searching for my response in my eyes.
"Oh," I spat."Ok then"
He whimpered and stretched out his arms to the side."I'm kidding"
"I'm from Negril"
"I move here for a fresh start"
"I'm single"
He chuckled and his eyes danced.
"I thought I might add that"
I gave him a half-smile and he winked at me.
"I love to travel, meet new people."
"That sorta thing"
He moved his head closer to me and whispered.
"Oh and I'm a romantic freak"
I bit the side of my mouth. It was almost like he was reading my mind. I love it when a man is expressive and a freak. I'll choose a good pussy licking over-penetration any time. I think that is why I liked fucking Junae, sex with her was less painful and more pleasurable. Speaking of Junae, I missed her very much and I wish I had taken the chance and went away with her, maybe all these turning points wouldn't happen.

Cedric's smile got brighter. His smile revealed every ounce of his perfect teeth. It sends chills down my spine.
