Katara's POV

I was finishing packing my bags for my trip to the Fire Festival. Fire Lord Zuko has personally requested for my brother and I to attend. It's been almost a full month since I saw my boyfriend Aang, Zuko, and  three months since I've last seen Toph. I am really looking forward to seeing them. Aang and Zuko were in Yu Dao helping construct Republic City while Sokka and I were in the Water Tribes making blood bending illegal, and Toph was off training her metal benders. While I packed my water bending scrolls into my bag Sokka came barging into our room. "Come on Katara, hurry up we are going to be late!" I was shocked to see that Sokka is up this early and is ready before me, usually it's a pain to get him up, along with actually being packed. "I'm almost done Sokka." "You should be done by now, Zuko is waiting for us!" I smiled, all week the only thing Sokka has been talking about was being able to see Zuko. In fact he almost seemed more excited to see him then I am to see Aang. "I'll be done in less than five minutes." I replied.

I walked over to the war balloon that Zuko had lended us. Sokka had prepared it to take us to the Fire Nation. My mom's cousin from the Northern Water Tribe Kenla and her husband Survu were there to greet us. "Here's some food for the trip." Kenla said, handing me a basket full of blubbered seal jerky and other treats. "Thank you," I told her, taking the basket. Then I walked onto the balloon. "Seal jerky! My favourite!" Sokka exclaimed, diving into the basket. I quickly water whipped his hands. "Hey what was that for?!" "We need to save them for the trip Sokka, you can't eat it all now." Sokka groaned and started preparing the balloon for take off.

Sokka's POV

We have been in the air for quite a few hours now and with every passing hour I've been getting more excited. I can't wait to see my best friends! It's been so long since I've seen them. However, I was most excited to see Zuko. I love teasing and joking around with him, he pretends to hate it but I know he loves it just as much. I also can't wait to challenge him again to another Swordbending Agni Kai. I've lost every time but I have been practicing lately and I think that it'll be a lot closer this time. "Are we almost there yet Katara?" "You tell me." She replied. I know that we must be getting close. "Do you think Sukki will be there?" She asked, "I don't think so, she's been super... busy lately." About five months ago Sukki and I broke up, she had duties to attend being the leader of the Kysohi warriors and all, which made it almost impossible to see each other. Over time we just grew apart and then eventually called it over. "It was for the best." Katara said, squeezing my hand. I smiled and then looked into the horizon. "There it is!" I exclaimed, pointing to the Fire Nation. We were finally here.

Zuko's POV

"Look!" Aang said, pointing to the sky, "It's Katara and Sokka!" We quickly ran outside watching the war balloon I gave them land. "Aang!" Katara yelled quickly running off the balloon jumping into his arms and kissed him. "Sokka," I almost whispered. "Zuko," He said smiling. Sokka then ran into my arms and we embraced each other tightly. "It's so good to see you again!" He exclaimed, "You too buddy." We then let go of each other, I turned to Katara and hugged her. "Are you guys hungry?" I asked them. "We're good. I think I might head to sleep soon, it's getting pretty late." Katara yawned. "Of course," I replied. "I can show you guys your rooms if you want." "Ok." Katara said, grabbing onto Aang's hand. We walked into the Fire Nation Palace and I took Aang and Katara to their room. Then I showed Sokka his room which was right across from mine. "Do you know when Toph will get here?" Sokka asked me. "She said that she'll come tomorrow morning right before the festival." "Oh." Sokka said. For a second we were staring at each other's eyes. Sokka has beautiful eyes. Then I waved Sokka good night and headed towards my room.

I couldn't sleep, so I decided to get out of bed and go on a walk. I sometimes do this when I can't sleep. I didn't even bother to put my shirt on this time. While I walked around I noticed Sokka on the Balcony. He looked kind of sad. "Couldn't sleep either?" I said walking onto the balcony. "Geez, you startled me." He jumped, "Sorry." I walked beside him putting my arms onto the railings. "Everything alright?" I asked. "Yeah, it's stupid, but I'm fine." Sokka said. I just stared at him wondering what was on his mind. "It's just weird to be in a room alone. My whole life I've always shared a room and sometimes even a bed with Katara. When we were traveling I was always with someone. And now she's always with Aang and I'm alone. It's just, different." He slowly shrugged his shoulders. Sokka had a solemn look on his face. "You can come with me to my room if you want," I told him. "You sure?" He questioned looking up at me until our eyes met, "Yeah" I replied. A small grin appeared on his face, then we headed towards my room.

Sokka's POV

I took off my shirt before heading into Zuko's bed taking out my wolf tail. "What" I said, noticing Zuko looking at me. "Nothing," He replied. "You look different with your hair down." "Oh" I said, "Not that it's a bad thing, um, you look great, I guess." "Thanks?" I smiled slightly confused, but yet again Zuko can be pretty awkward just like me. "Anyways, Good night." Zuko said, blowing out the candles on his bedside table. "Night Zuko." I whispered.

I turned over to my side, opening my eyes. I tend to move a bit while I'm sleeping. I turned to face Zuko and noticed him staring up at the ceiling wide awake. "Everything alright?" I asked him, waiting for a reply. "Five years ago tomorrow I was banished by the previous Fire Lord Ozai and became an outcast." He told me, "I lost everything that day, and was sent on this fantasy project to capture the Avatar. I never would have expected that a few years later I would be best friends with Aang and you... Everything has changed since then." He spoke with a calm tone. "Is that why you chose to have the festival tomorrow?" I asked. Zuko then turned to face me with his right side in the pillow and his handsome scar towards the sky.  "Yeah, something to remind me how far I've come and that I no longer need to fear him." Zuko admitted. I never knew that Zuko was still afraid of Ozai, I never knew that his fears still haunted him to this day. I placed my hand onto Zuko's muscular lean shoulder, his skin was smooth and warm. "Everything will be alright." I told him. Zuko let out a small smile and moved closer to me. I could feel his breath on my skin, then I closed my eyes.
