I threw my spear with all my might, they may have been 50 or so yards away, but this time I wouldn't miss.

I had never meant to kill the young girl. Rue? I had never meant to kill Rue. I was aiming for Katniss.

I was always aiming for her, but this time I don't miss. She didn't even have time to widen her eyes, or even scream when the spear shot right through her neck.

The canon sounded. The boy from 11 looked stunned, maybe he thought I was going to kill him, not her.

He was blocking my exit, and I was now weaponless. He really regained focus and turned on me.

"You killed Rue."

"No, I didn't."

It was a lie, but he didn't have to know that. I continued,

"I was there when the explosion happened, I never once even saw her this entire time."

He didn't look convinced. I took a harmless step forward,

"Look, I know you don't believe me. But you heard the district 12 girl to have been with her, I'm positive that she killed the young girl. Either way it doesn't matter because both are dead.  If you want another opinion you could always ask the district 2 boy who was with me, oh look! He's coming right now.

Except considering you just killed his partner I wouldn't count him having a friendly conversation."

He glanced behind him, we both could see a figure running towards where Cloves body lay.

He picked up both his bag and also the one numbered a 2. Unblocking the exit he said one last thing,

"I'm letting you go just this once. For Rue. Only because you killed the one that killed her."

I nod my head at him, he nods back before running back to the field of long grass where he emerged.

I can't believe I got away with that.

But I had other problems at hand, Cato had reached Cloves side by now. He was holding her hand and was sobbing at her side.

"Come on Clove, come on! We are meant to win this together. Come on..."

Katniss's body was still on the ground, bleeding from the wound in her neck. I yanked my spear out and tried to shake off the blood.

Unlike Rue's death, I did not feel sad at all for Katniss's. She had already taken so much away from me, she unbalanced the odds for being in my favour by winning over the crowd.

She took my fame, and I took her life.

Cloves canon finally blasted. Cato steadily rose to his feet.

He looked at me with eyes wet with tears,

"Where did he go."

I pointed over his shoulder to where the tall grass fields were.
