Day one training:

This time I wake up early. This time my natural instinct of training pull me out if bed before the sun has even reached the horizon.

Last year, the year before that and the year before than and so on, it was always the same routine.

Wake up, train, eat, learn, train, shower, sleep.

Again and again.

All worth it. Every second, for this moment. Show them what you've got.

Clothes have already been laid out on the other side of the bed. Red and black body suits from the look of it. I get changed.

Flexible, not warm though.

But neither was your scrubs back home. The Capitol is making you weak.

I head out to the dining room where breakfast has already been laid out. Fruit towers, pancakes, waffles, everything you can imagine.

I spot the star shaped fruit again. I still remember it's tangy taste in my mouth, it was good.

I grab another one and start to peel it. Years of training have taught me not to eat to much before training, or else it will come straight back up.

Glimmer walks into the room, she is wearing the same outfit. Grabbing a plate of pancakes topped with pink fruit, she joins me at the table.

"You ready for today?" She asks, before wolfing down a mouthful of pancake.

"Never been more ready. I can't wait to see the look on that girls face, no amount of sponsors will save her from my spear to her heart."

Glimmer shrugs.

"Clove will probably get to her first. Did you see her face after the parade? I swear the only emotion she feels is anger."

And jealously.

But wouldn't that be good? To have no feeling of remorse for those you will kill? It's easier said than done I suppose.

"Yeah, better not get on her bad side."

We don't speak another word through breakfast.

What is Glimmer and I make it to the end, the last two standing... Will I be able to kill her? We aren't friends, no one is at the academy unless they are the same gender or a different age. Probably to ensure that we don't have trouble killing in the arena, for this exact reason...

The mentors sweep into the room,

"Time to head down, doesn't hurt to be early rather than late."

I washed my hands before joining them in the elevator. Looking at the buttons, I realise how they work.

The buttons go like this:
