Theorhys let out a long sigh and leaned back on his seat. "I swear, if we don't leave soon, I might fall asleep right here."
I chuckled. "You and me both, buddy. But we can't just leave without saying goodbye to everyone."
"I know, I know," he grumbled. "But can we at least speed things up a bit? I don't think I can take another hour of small talk and forced laughter."
I nodded in agreement. "I'll talk to them and see if we can head out in the next few minutes. Sound good?"
"Sounds like a plan," Theorhys said, looking a little more relieved. "Thanks, man. You're a lifesaver."
Napabuntong-hininga pa ako at tinapunan ng tingin ang isa pang kagwang na nasa sulok ng videoke room at sinenyasang yayain na rin ang broken hearted na si Ixx.
"Hoy, Ixx! Tama na 'yang kadramahan mo diyan. Napakadami pang babae sa mundo. Magsiuwi na tayo bago pa tayo sunduin ng mga magulang natin," deklara naman si Five sabay tapik ng braso ng isa.
Cyan suddenly springs up from his seat and adjusts his glasses. He's undoubtedly the biggest nerd I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. Theorhys and I can't help but giggle as he fumbles with his Psychology book.
"Right, guys! Let's call it a night. We've got exams tomorrow, and we can't risk being late," Cyan exclaims.
"We're not the ones taking exams, though," we all chime in unison, exchanging amused glances and chuckles.
As medical students, Theorhys and I are engrossed in our studies. Ixx is pursuing Mass Communication, Cyan is all in for Psychology, while Five has his heart set on Architecture. We've been tight-knit since high school, and nothing has changed since then.
We quietly exit the karaoke room, and a sense of weariness washes over us. We all heave a collective sigh as we wait for our ride home, ready to call it a night.
"Thanks for joining me, guys," ani Ixx na malungkot pa rin ang mukha.
"Don't mention it. Sanay na kami sayo," pabirong sabi ni Cyan na ikinatawa naming lahat.
"Hindi ka ba nilalamig? Hiramin mo muna 'tong hood ko," untag sakin ni Five.
"Oh, can I have this one? I love the design," pa-cute ko pang sabi para hingiin ang hood nito.
Napapalatak na lang ito at walang nagawa kundi ang ngumiti at ginulo ng bahagya ang aking buhok. Agad naman akong napasimangot dahil sa habit nito.
"Gusto mo pala ng hood? Marami ako, bibigyan kita," singit naman ni Ixx.
Model ito ng isang sikat na clothing brand kaya siguradong marami itong nakaimbak na damit na hindi naman nasusuot.
"Sure, may pang kids din ba? Pwede ka bang maging sponsor, Mr. Superstar?"
