🍹Crystal's POV🍹
Edward's and Lucas's faces are filled with worry.
"What's going on, right now?" I ask
"Are you guys okay?" They both say simultaneously, making me stunned by their sudden question.
"Yeah, we're fine, and come in" I say as I step aside letting them pass through. We made our way to the living room.
Edward and Lucas breathed a sigh of relief and smiled, as they saw the girls playing video games and attacking each other with pillows, one of them lost and the winner stuck out her tongue.
"What are you guys doing here?" Nora asks as she notices the guys and puts the pillow down. Laura sees the guys and also stops. The future couple (Laura and Edward) saw each other and blushed. Nora and I noticed and smirked while poor Lucas was left in the express train of confusion.
Lucas clears his throat "I was leaving school, and I heard people whisper to each other that Amber threatened you". "Well, you didn't hear wrong," Laura says and, crossing her arms and starts getting upset at the thought of it. "But it's no worry, we're fine" I say, well it wasn't really a lie cause the threat wasn't really directed at the others but mostly at me.
"That's a relief" Edward says.
"Instead of just standing there why not come and play a little with us?" Laura asked, smiling.
"Would love to but my dad, wants me to attend a meeting with him" Lucas says, smiling apologetically.
"Our mom wants Nora and I to take care of some errands, sorry," Edward says, a little sad (My hypothesis: He wants to spend more time with Laura), while Nora pouted. "Alright," Laura said, a hint of sadness lacing her voice as she watched Nora stand up to head to her brother's side.
"Don't worry Laura, Crystal and you will be coming over during the weekend so we can play again. I can get revenge and we can also pair up to kick Edward's ass" She said, winking at Laura, making us laugh as Edward blushed and scowled at her sister for teasing him.
Soon after we are sending off the guys and Laura and I decide to sit on the porch and just enjoy the breeze. The sunset graces us with its warmth, The beautiful orange that painted the neighborhood made everything seem better. Bringing back many memories of our childhood. Our parents would take us to the park as children the sunset shining around us as I was chasing Laura. I guess the golden hour did bring its splendor.
"Crystal" Laura called out, dragging me from my thoughts
"Yeah?"
"I think we should call mom and dad" She said, and it was true we hadn't heard from them in a while. Although some teenagers would rejoice at the thought of no parents in charge of the house, it was different for us. the fact that we were family friends usually meant that we were a big family. Waking in the morning the atmosphere was different, always joyous and bubbly, the smell of breakfast would lead me as I heard the laughter of my parents and as I made my way downstairs. Their warm smiles made me feel better even on a rainy day, and it was the same with Laura. So when she mentioned for us to call our parents I couldn't agree more and brought out my phone. I called my mom and she answered on the second ring.
"Our babies" Our moms say simultaneously, Laura and I were quite surprised to see our mothers in formal dresses.
"Hi, moms" Laura and I said.
"How are you, girls?" Laura's mom asks.
"We're good, we just miss you. Where are our dads?" I say and ask while tilting the phone so they can have a better view of us.
"We miss you guys too, and they are talking with the boss, right now. I know that we were supposed to come back sooner but they needed us here. Oh, and we're in the middle of a charity event that our company had sponsored. " My mom said.
"That sounds like fun, but when will you be back?" Laura asks.
"In three days at the very least. Our boss says that we have been working hard so he's gonna give us some time off" My mom says.
We hear music in the background and our mothers sigh in displeasure. "We gotta go girls. We will meet you at the airport in three days". Laura's mom says. "Bye girls, don't get pregnant" Our moms say and hang up, giving us no chance to retaliate against what they just said.
Laura and looked at each other for a good second before bursting into laughter. "Oh my gosh, mothers sure have very weird thoughts" Laura said, between laughs and I nodded as I couldn't get a word out from laughing so hard.
We calmed down and watched the sunset, but we started to become restless and decided to take a walk around the neighborhood.
"It's been a while since we've taken a proper walk together" Laura says, and I smile. She was right, ever since we moved here we didn't take walks as we used to. "Crystal, I've been meaning to ask you. What do you think of Ben?" She asks and I frown. The mere mention of his name makes me upset.
Laura chuckled "I guess you don't like him, although I don't know why I know you always have reasons for doing things," She says, making me smile at how well she could understand me.
"Listen, even if you don't have to get with Lucas..." She says stopping me in my tracks to face me and shrugs "I don't know you somehow, you might just end up with Ben. I'll always support your decision" She says smiling, as the breeze made her brown hair flutter with the wind. The golden sunset made her eyes shine even brighter. I was glad to have her with me.
"Hey!!!" I said hitting her teasingly as I was happy for her support but kind of offended that she would ever think such between Ben and me.
"Wait, not even a thank you for encouraging speech?" she asks blocking herself from my playful hits.
"Nope!" I say emphasizing the "p", and start chasing her. Our laughter could be heard in the quiet neighborhood as I chased her.
I smiled as it reminded me of our childhood, during the summers, winters, fall, and spring seasons of me chasing her as we grew up together and having fun. Laura turned around and engulfed me in a hug making it difficult for me to attack her. We laughed in each other's embrace as we just stood there trying to catch our breaths.
