Interruption

Clint avoided eye contact for a while after walking in on Steve and Nat on the bed. Natasha merely rolled her eyes at the overreaction and Steve was puzzled. They hadn't actually been caught doing anything too bad, no clothes were off.  Though the situation itself had left him uncomfortable because his body was very interested in continuing. It seemed the universe was conspiring against them because they hadn't had a moment alone together since. Not to say that they always had the twins, no, the Avengers were rather fond of the super-babies and were always willing to take them but if it wasn't the twins it was someone else.

Currently, Steve sat brooding in the conference room as they discussed possible Hydra movement, but realizing that the Redroom would want their own experiment back they hadn't ruled them out either. Which just darkened Steve's mood further. Both Hydra and the Redroom posed a threat to James and Alina. He would never say it out loud but he also worried for Natasha, she had escaped, but he didn't think they'd take it too lightly that she had. Steve couldn't figure out if the Redroom would simply kill Natasha off or try to make her their widow again.

"Cap?" A voice called through his thoughts causing him to blink. "Steve?" The voice again called sounding a little concerned. He looked up to realize the entire room was watching and waiting for his input, and he hadn't paid attention to most of it.

"I'm sorry, I..." Steve felt a flush creep up his neck as he floundered not able to look at Nat who he felt boring holes in the side of his head.

"What's going through that head of yours Cap?" Tony asked, speaking up much to the surprise of Steve. He meant to shake his head but the look he was sent made him shift.

"Natasha was part of the Redroom, I was just thinking that this just became a bit more complicated," that was only the tip of the iceberg. There was a shift beside him and this time Steve did look. Natasha was good at hiding her discomfort but the shift in her chair was enough to show that whatever he was going to say her being on his mind wasn't it.

"What about Natasha being a part of the Redroom?" Clint spoke up, keeping his tone level even though he felt like removing Natasha from the room. They rarely brought up her past, and while Clint knew about it, they never spoke about it to the others. He wasn't sure how much Steve knew considering they shared a daughter, but the others didn't need to speculate.

"I'm not saying... What I'm trying to say is that this could be even more dangerous for her," Steve was flustered and knew he was screwing up his chance to explain. "I know our missions are dangerous. I know that Hydra is dangerous. But Natasha is connected to the Redroom and can help us if we have to come up against them. So who do you think they're going to target besides Alina?" He saw the realization cross Clint's face and shortly followed by Tony.

"They'll try to kill Natasha," Tony spoke, glancing over at the woman who seemed slightly shocked and annoyed all at once.

"Or, worse," Clint spoke up, and when Tony went to protest he held his hand up. "They'll make her work for them again. They could use Alina against her if they get ahold of the little girl. We know what they're capable of and they're not above hurting children."

"I'm well aware of what they'll do to me if they catch me," Natasha finally spoke up, her annoyance clear but it softened as she glanced at Steve. She had known of this complication the moment that they figured out that Hydra and the Redroom began to work together. She reached over and grasped Steve's hand, keeping her face passive as his grip tightened to the point it hurt. Apparently, he was more anxious about it than he had let on. "But we'll play it smart. As smart as we can. We know that they're out there. We also know what they're capable of and they won't be too happy to see me. The widows are good at what they do, but you have a widow on your team. So we'll be able to face them with no trouble." They were talking as if the organizations were indomitable. That wasn't true. It did, however, mean that she needed to destroy the Redroom. She couldn't leave a threat like that out in the world and risk them constantly coming for her daughter.

"Nat's right," Clint said with a gust of breath, he was feeling the tension gather in his shoulders. "We have an edge they don't. One of their own. The one thing about these organizations is that they're notorious for not changing." Clint sat back in his chair and glanced at the ceiling. At least the patterns of the two organizations hadn't changed.

"We still continue to monitor and use caution," Steve warned, glancing around at the team not willing to lose his daughter and Natasha to a case of overconfidence. Hydra and the Redroom could be predictable but they were slippery. Somehow they always managed to get away, or some managed to hide.

Tony shut down the map he had put up. With a wave of his hand, he dismissed the entire group letting them file out of the room. He glanced over at Steve that went back to staring off into space, lost in his thoughts. "Cap, you've gotta have a little faith. Now get going, I think Natasha is a little annoyed," the man grinned a bit, as Steve snapped to attention.

"Right, thanks Tony," with that Steve got up and headed out of the conference room and gave Natasha an apologetic smile. "Sorry... I guess I had a lot on my mind. Kind of lost myself again."

"Really? I hadn't noticed," she sassed before sighing, reaching up and cupping his cheek bringing his face down for a gentle kiss. "You're worrying too much. This has always been the risk, and we can't hide away. We have to face the head-on." She could feel him grow stiff under her fingertips. He respected her ability to fight, she knew that Steve wasn't one to wrap her up in bubble wrap. Feelings were scary enough, and then they have to face Hydra and the Redroom who would love to tear them apart.

"I know," he grounded out, blue eyes turning to steel as he struggled inwardly. "I know we have to fight them, and I know you're our best resource. Doesn't mean I like the fact that they are after TWO people that I love. Hell, they'll take the three of you away from me. You, Alina, AND James." Steve forced himself to take a deep, shuddering breath, and let it out slowly. He wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her tight against his chest and kissed her a bit harder.

"I don't think you understand. You three are everything to me. To lose you would..." Steve stopped speaking, swallowing compulsively as he was swamped with emotion.

"You three are everything to me too, that's why we have to fight them, and we can't lose," Natasha gentled her tone, his arm was tight around her waist. He wasn't one for being extremely intimate out in the open but she would take it. "Come on... Let's go back to the room, huh? The twins are occupied right now... Clint sent me a text saying he has them." Her eyes darted back to his lips before biting her own and peeking up at him through her eyelashes.

"They're occupied?" Steve allowed a small grin to come to his face as he leaned over and kissed her again. "Shall we go to our room?" Natasha laughed and let him sweep her away. The both of them hurried to the shared rooms. Both laughed and whispered to each other like they were love-sick teenagers. Once in the room, Steve wisely shut the door and locked it for extra measure.

Natasha grinned widely at him for remembering to shut the door and was impressed he locked it. While she wasn't sure what they would do the excitement was sending a thrill through her veins. She waited for him to turn back towards her from the door and she jumped up on him. Her legs wrapped around his narrow waist, and her arms wound themselves around his neck, bringing him in for a kiss as his arms hooked underneath her. He kissed back with vigor as soon as her lips connected. Their enthusiasm caused them to less gracefully stumble onto the bed. Natasha let out a laugh when she fell from his grasp and falling onto the bed they shared, Steve falling after her. His hands were planted beside her head to keep himself from crushing the woman beneath him.

"You're gorgeous," he whispered softly, leaning back down to kiss her. Briefly pulling away to kiss down her jaw and to her neck. His ears picked up the sounds of her quickening breath when he paid attention to certain areas. Steve inhaled sharply as she expertly dragged her nails across his thin cotton t-shirt across his chest.

"You're delicious," she whispered back, whimpering as he hit a particularly sensitive spot on her neck. Her head fell to the side to give him more access as her heart jumped to her throat. "Steve..."

"Yes, Nat?" He whispered after kissing back up her neck to speak into her ear. Feeling her body shudder at the sensation. "What do you need?" His voice was throatier, deeper, and he could feel his body grow tighter with desire.

"You know what I need," she said back with a slight pout, he was causing her to melt into a puddle and usually she was in control. Steve nipped at her neck, causing another round of shudders and a moan to slip off her tongue.

"Words, sweetheart," Steve growled as he pressed down against her. "I need to hear words." He saw the fight inside her eyes, the want to give in, and simultaneously wanted to deny him the words he sought. He rolled his hips against her for good measure.

"You!" Natasha cried out, hands clawing at his shirt trying to tear it off of him. Her blood was heated with a desperate need to feel him closer. She'd always been attracted to him but had never thought to dream she'd get this far.

"Good girl," he growled in her ear, kissing back down her neck before taking her lips again. They each fought for control, Steve so overpowering that Natasha was sure he was going to consume her. She would have enjoyed it too. He was careful to pay attention to clues and make sure this was something she truly wanted before moving forward.

"Steve," Natasha whimpered between kisses, chest heaving with an effort to catch her breath. Her whimper was a plea for something more than the teasing touches he was giving.

"Captain Rogers," a disembodied voice boomed from above, causing Steve to spring away from Natasha like she was hot coals.

Steve was breathing heavily from the near passionate moment, his fiery need, and now panic that coursed through his body. He was trying to shake the fog in his mind, as he stayed focused on Natasha who lay on her back on the bed. Her chest heaving as she gulped in the air, her hair had fallen out of the loose braid, and her lips looked thoroughly kissed. His body stiffened and nearly stepped forward to resume when he was interrupted again. "Captain Rogers, you are needed in the lab," JARVIS the AI said, waiting for the reply of the man in the room.

"Who needs me in the lab JARVIS?" Steve was annoyed, more than annoyed, he was pissed at another interruption.

"Dr. Banner, Captain. He has something he'd like to discuss with you about the twins," JARVIS supplied helpfully, causing Steve to look up at the ceiling as if to glare at the AI. There was no camera in his room, but all rooms were able to be accessed by JARVIS for communication purposes.

"Now?!" There was silence, it seemed that JARVIS was asking that question.

"I'm afraid so Captain Rogers," JARVIS waited patiently for Steve's grumbled agreement that he'd be there.

Steve glanced at Nat who seemed curious, but her eyes were still dark with the passion they'd managed to stir up in each other. "I better go," he grumbled, adjusting his pants. Very aware of the effect that Natasha had on him, and feeling extremely unsatisfied again.

"I'll go too, it's about our kids after all," her voice was a bit rough, but she managed to sit up and take her hair out of her braid. Natasha carefully ran her fingers through her hair to somewhat comb it out. Licking her lips and noting how Steve's eyes darted to her lips and darkened further. "Come on Captain, Dr. Banner awaits." She teased softly. Adjusting her shirt to attempt to look less rumpled than she was.
