I opened my eyes and noticed I was in the same position as the night before, on top of Newt.

'Hey, love.' Newt said. 'Sleep well?'

'Yes.' I smiled and looked at Newt. Dark bags surrounded his eyes and his hair was all messy. 'You didn't sleep for a second, did you?'

'That's right.' Newt replied with a chuckle. It didn't seem to bother him at all.

'I'm so sorry.' I immediately said.

'Don't be. Do you think I would've been able to sleep in any way, no matter if you lay top of me or not?' Newt asked.

'Well, no. But-'

'All I care about is that you slept, and you did, so I'm glad about that.' Newt moved my hair out of my face. I smiled and bend toward his face to kiss him. Newt cupped my face and kissed back, slow and passionate. After a few seconds, we let go and had to catch our breaths.

'Hey, Nora! What the shuck are doing in the pit?'

I looked up and saw Minho looking through the fence.

'You know that's a rule, right? You can't just stay with Newt in the pit when he is having a punishment.' Minho said. 'I'm sorry, but we need to punish you too now.'

'You're kidding, right Minho?' Newt straightened his back.

'No. Even though Alby can't lead this place right now, it doesn't mean we can just let go of the rules. If we do, everything will go wrong.' Minho answered.

'Come on, Minho. Don't let Nora stay in the pit.' Newt argued.

'She should've thought of that before she stayed here with you.'

'He's right, Newt.' I admitted.

'Both of you get one more night and day in the pit.' Minho decided.

'Fine.' I said before Newt could argue again. Minho locked the fence and walked away.

'At least we get to stay in the same pit.' Newt sighed.

'Yeah.'

It was almost dark outside when I realized how cold it was in the pit. Sunlight barely shined into the pit. A shiver went down my spine. 'It's cold in here.' I muttered.

'Get here.' Newt patted on the floor. I sat next to Newt and he wrapped his arms around me. The warmth of his body immediately made me feel less cold.

'Thank you.' I lay my head down on Newt's shoulder and he stroked my hand, while I held his. Slowly it got darker and darker outside, meaning it was probably nighttime.

I heard a few muffled noises coming from outside and looked up. Chuck walked over to us with a big torch in his hand. 'I got some food for you guys.' The kid bend down and gave us a piece of bread through the fence. It was the minimum size, but I was still very grateful.

'Thank you, Chuck.' Newt grabbed the bread and gave it to me. I wasn't gonna let Newt give me all of the food, so I broke it into two and gave Newt the biggest piece.

'Thanks, love.' He took a bite.

'I better go now.' Chuck got up again. 'Bye!'

In silence, I and Newt ate the food. I felt myself getting tired and couldn't resist closing my eyes for a slight second, but immediately opened them again.

'Go to sleep.' Newt motioned at his lap.

'No.'

He hadn't slept the previous night and I wasn't gonna let it happen again.
