I opened my eyes, looking around, seeing that I was now back in my bed. The last thing I remembered was falling asleep in daddy's arms downstairs on the couch.
Speaking of daddy, where did he go?
I was no longer in a super small headspace, so I climbed out of bed, grabbing Leon, and went to look for daddy.
"Dada?" I called out, clutching Leon close to my chest. The bathroom door was open, meaning he wasn't in there and Amanda's door was closed, meaning he wasn't in there either. "Daddy?" I called out to him again, louder this time.
My feet carried me to the top of the stairs. I may have been bigger than I was before, but I still felt too small to go down the stairs myself.
I sat down at the top of the stairs. "Daddy.." I called out once more, voice breaking in the process. I began to cry as all the possibilities started to play out in my head.
What if he left me anyways, decided I was too much. What if he decided to be someone else's daddy instead. In the midst of my tears, I managed to crawl my way back to my room, where I sat in the middle of the floor and cried with Leon close to my chest until I felt arms wrapping themselves around me.
"What's wrong, Bug? What happened" It was daddy, who was now holding me in his arms, attempting to calm me down. He twisted me around, so I was facing him, I dropped Leon, instead holding his shirt in my grasp, praying to never have to let him go.
"L-Left Ezzy" I managed to get out between sobs. "No, no, no" He held me closer to him. "Daddy didn't leave Ezzy" He assured softly. "Daddy would never leave Ezzy" A promising tone in his voice as he rocked side to side with me in his lap.
A while of this later, my crying had subsided to small sniffles and the occasional hiccup. Daddy began humming softly, rubbing my back, before he started to actually sing. I recognized the song to be Certain Things by James Arthur.
I closed my eyes, cuddling closer to him, and allowed him to continue to soothe me with his voice. Sure, I've only heard it once before this, but hearing him singing to me would never get old. I love his voice.
Once daddy was finished singing, he pulled me back so he could look at my face. "You okay now, Bug?" He asked softly, wiping the excess tears from my cheeks. I hummed in agreement, nodding slightly. "Ezzy okay" I told him quietly, adverting my eyes from his.
He leaned forward, kissing the tip of my nose, causing me to giggle quietly.
It tickled just a little bit. "Again" I grinned, so he did. Another kiss and another giggle. "Is my baby happy now?" He smiled. I smiled as-well, nodding my head at him. I liked being called that, his baby. That's what I was. I was his baby now.
Daddy's face softened slightly but, his smile never left. "I promise you, baby" He whispered quietly. "I'm never going to leave you" I nodded softly in response, holding my hand up with my pinky out. Daddy hooked his pinky around mine.
"Can't break" I looked him in his eyes, sealing the deal. "I won't break it, bubba" I grinned at the nickname, looking away to hide the way my cheeks began turning pink. "You want something to eat, baby?"
I nodded softly, turning to look at him again. "Okay," He made me stand up, following suit and grabbing my hand. "Let's go get you some food little one"
When we reached this top of the steps, I stopped, feeling scared that I might fall if I tried to walk down them. "What's wrong, Bug?" Daddy asked, turning to look at me once he noticed I had stopped walking. I pointed at the stairs, shaking my head slightly.
He looked confused at first, before realizing what I was saying. "Baby, you'll be okay" He assured me, running his thumb over the back of my hand a few times, calming me down slightly. "Daddy's right here, Bug"
Daddy's reassurance was the greatest thing ever. Especially the way his voice always softened when he was encouraging me. I nodded, trusting him, that I would be okay. "Ezzy brave" I told him.
"That's right, Ezzy is brave" Daddy smiled. "My brave little prince" He praised. I gave him a toothy grin in return. "You got this, baby boy" He encouraged, never letting my had go. I looked down at the stairs, unsure if I really wanted to do this, but daddy was right there, he would make sure I was okay, he would protect me.
I slowly took the first step, holding on to the railing and daddy's hand. My other foot soon followed suit, finding its way down onto the step. I looked up at daddy, smiling. "Good job, baby!" He praised, squeezing my hand. "You got this" He told me. I continued my way down, one step at a time, never letting his hand go.
Once we made it to the bottom, I let daddy's hand go, clapping to myself. "You did it, baby" Daddy crouched down so he was eye level with me. "I'm so proud of you, little one" He said softly, taking my hands in his.
I smiled happily at him, swinging our arms gently.
"Thank 'ou, daddy!"
"Now, let's get you some food" He picked me up, carrying me into the kitchen and over to my high-chair. "How old are you, baby boy" Daddy asked once I was secured in my high-chair.
I held up 2 fingers.
Daddy nodded, kissing my forehead, before proceeding to make me some food. Just as he began cooking, Amanda walked through the door from work. "Hey Trey," She grinned, before turning to me. "Hey Ezzy! What's up buddy?" She came over, giving me a hug and ruffling my hair causing me to giggle.
"Guess what Mr. Two year old did today" Daddy grinned as he began stirring something in a pot on the stove. "What did the big boy do now?" I was smiling from ear to ear, happy about what was happening and the way they were referring to me.
"He walked down the stairs all by himself" Daddy told her, but I spoke up before Amanda could say anything. "Nuh uh," I pouted. "Daddy helped" I let Amanda know. "I'm sorry baby, daddy did help didn't he" Daddy looked at me fondly shaking his head as I nodded.
"Well, either way, I'm very proud of you Ezzy" She kissed my cheek. "Thank 'ou, Manda" I grinned. Once daddy was finished making my food, which was dinosaur shaped mac and cheese, we all sat in the living room watching my favorite movie.
The Good Dinosaur.
I ended up falling asleep in daddy's lap, which just so happens to be my new favorite spot to sleep.
