Chapter 26

Goosebumps pops up all of a sudden all over my body. Sasuke's gaze is cold and he's looking just behind me. I feel something hot spreading all over my neck, someone is breathing on my neck. I'm getting caught. Out of reflex I elbowed the person without even checking and start running dragging Sasuke along with me.

Our footsteps are loud in the silence of the forest, I can't hear anyone running behind me. After reaching a safe distance, I hide behind bushes once again. I open my mouth wider to inhale more of the oxygen. Sasuke also mimicks my action and then I find his eyes looking into mine. I ask him while panting,"Who was it?" Sasuke replies,"Don't know."

I find a small tree behind my back and I rest against it resting my butt on the ground without caring about the dirt below. "Why did you drag me here with you?" Sasuke asks. I also don't have any explanation to give at this moment. Out of all people, I saved my ass along with Sasuke who is hated. "Do you have the wish to spend the night here?" I ask. Sasuke does not provide me with a clear answer and just looks away.

I hear someone walking this way. The hunter of the game came following us after all. I don't think even if we left any trace, they will be able to find any of it. Even my own heart which is racing crazily is scaring me. "Damn, shit." I hear the person cursing. That person isn't Gaara but the other one.

Then another voice breaks the silence which doesn't belong to any of the hunters. "Dude, for how long you will keep doing this!" That voice belongs to that madman, Kiba. Does he have a death wish? Sasuke is silent but somehow I have a feeling that he has a proud smirk on his face. A deep voice cuts in,"Got you." Then the cackling sound which came out of Kiba's mouth sent goosebumps all over my body. That guy is challenging Gaara who just entered the scene.

Kiba shouts,"Catch me if you can, Gaara." Then his quick footsteps soon fade away giving me the idea that he has already made a run and Gaara shouts,"Hey, you follow him!" The other guy  sounds dumbfounded. "Me!?" He asks. Gaara is losing his patience. He shouts,"Yes, you dumb asshole."

Sasuke lets out a soft chuckle. "Hearing such words from a prince.." Sasuke mocks. I immediately hush him and whisper,"Don't make noise." Then suddenly Sasuke moves closer. I can never read his action or can tell what is going on in his head. "What are you doing!" I whisper yell. "Shut up if you don't want us to get caught." Sasuke speaks. Then I realized, this whole time I was the one who was talking nonstop.

Some more time has passed. This hunter and prey game is still going on. Some vulgar words and curses are coming out of their mouths as they pace back and forth. This darkness and the forest which is no different than a puzzle put them in a great disadvantage. At this rate, the night is going to pass but the game won't end. That is a great thing as well. Spending the night with someone else even though that person is Sasuke Uchiha is better than spending the night with reptiles and other beasts.

Seems like they didn't manage to tap on Kiba and he ran away. Everyone is losing patience. The mosquitoes are making it even worse. I heard the noise of slapping against skin a few times as if someone is trying to kill those small blood sucking creatures. Then I hear Sasuke sighing but the thing he did after that made my blood rush. He gets up abruptly calling for Gaara's name as if he was some old buddy he suddenly came across with.

Gaara turns his head noticing a dark silhouette. That voice, of course he recognised it. For some moment, my mind went blank and took some seconds to process the whole thing but when I gained access to my brain again, I had to make a run but then I got stumbled realising my hand is in a tight hold. He didn't let go of my hand.

The whole darkness gobbled us up totally. Even if I raise my hand, it can't be seen. Everyone else left leaving only just two of us. I still can't process the thing happened there. I wanted to scream and yell at him. Why did he have to act like a Saint when in real he harbours evil thoughts in his mind?

"Are you crazy! Why did you do that!" I yell. He speaks calmly,"We would end up spending the whole night here anyway, this is no different." I want to smack him so hard knocking him down. "Still, there could be chance for us to get the hell out of here and then you had to do that. I can't tell if you are dumb or smart." I tell him bluntly.

"And here I'm surprised to see how stupid you are being right now scolding me." Sasuke says. I can't tell if he's just joking or actually threatening me. "Because of me, you got to come here. Pay some respect." He speaks. "Why should I?" I spat. Then I felt the gape closing all of a sudden. Sasuke grabs my collar tightening his hold.

He speaks coldly,"If you think you can yell before me just because you wish to, you are going to regret it soon. Do you think I'll let you spy on me that easily?" My eyes grew bigger. "How am I spying on you!" I ask him. He speaks,"Do you think I don't have any idea about how you are in contact with my brother? That school is mine, I get informed about everything that happens in there."

My breath hitched. How could I forget? I push him off of me and speak,"I am the one who is in trouble because of you two brothers. One sends me gifts that I could never afford and the other takes me here, in a whole another country. Are you guys fucking in love with me!" After that there was only silence.

I bit my tongue realising that was something embarrassing to say. And then a sound made me flinch. "Pfftt.."
Then his laughter echoes. I take a step back as if my heart has been stabbed. I feel embarrassed to the core. Why would I say that before someone as cold hearted as him? It took some minutes for him to stop laughing. Naruto wanted the earth to swallow him right there.

He stutters,"Wh-Why are you laughing. I was joking." Sasuke takes a deep breath and speaks after that,"It's been so long, I laughed so freely." I had nothing I could say after that. It was already embarrassing enough. It was a mistake when I dragged him with me wanting to save both of us.

"Us? In love with you?" Sasuke brings out the same topic. "Only anyone can fantasize that." He speaks. His voice held amusement. Every word is making my face go red. "I don't wish for such thing to happen. It's already bad enough." I speak trying to cover the whole thing up.

"What bad enough? Having the attention of the Uchiha brothers?" Sasuke speaks. "Why are you blushing, Naruto?" Although it is impossible to take a look on my crimson red face but Sasuke asked me anyway. Then a soft slap lands against Sasuke's lips as I try to shut him up. "S-Stop saying weird stuffs."

Then his hands holds me by my arm spinning me around and then I am pinned against a tree. "What are you doing!" I yell. Sasuke's body is also pressed against my body caging me.
"You are challenging me from the start." Sasuke starts speaking. I am only trying to set myself free struggling against his hold. Sasuke is stronger but how come that day, a light punch made him all stumbled and bruised up?

"Whenever there was a issue, there was always you. You even got my brother involved somehow." He speaks. "None of it was intentional!" I shout. Sasuke ignored my plea. He speaks,"Naruto, you have no idea how dangerous the situation can be. This whole school and council thing will be a mere child play compared to that."

I suddenly feel the urge to turn around and look straight into his eyes. What is dangerous? "Let me go." I go softer and ask him softening my voice as well as if that is going to solve everything. But the hold doesn't go soft at all. Then I feel hot breath fanning making the hair on my skin rise up.

"I do have my interest in you. That is the most dangerous thing" He speaks. I ask him,"How?" Sasuke asks,"Do you still not realize the situation?" I shake my head. "Itachi is obsessed with me. The more I get close to you, the more dangerous it will be for you." Then his hold softens all of a sudden giving me the chance to turn around.

The ray of moonlight managed to creep in. In the soft light, I finally could make out his face. His expression remains cold as always but there is sternness in his eyes warning me of something. Then a question left my mouth without me realising,"How am I interesting?" Sasuke speaks in one sentence,"You are different from the rest of us."
