Chapter Twelve

They eventually made there way out of town, and walked hill after hill. They get to flat land and signs were posted every 5 feet reading "Beware", "Dark Forest Ahead", "Danger" and "you're doomed".

The last sign made Gondel smirk.

The three of them stood in front of the entrance of the Dark Forest.

"Are you sure you want to do this Variana?" Dean asked.

"Well we can't go back now... I've caused lots of damage and you both came along with me so they'll put you in prison as well."

"True." Dean stated.

Gondel walks forward first into the forest. The trees were light green and little critters were everywhere. The wind blew slowly and it felt good against there skin. Every now and then they would stop at small streams to drink water or wash the dirt off their body.

The second one they stopped at, Gondel cleaned the infection on Deans shoulder and wrapped it up again.

"I'm starving." Variana complained.

"We all are. Would of been nice if you picked up and apple or two instead of throwing them." Gondel said back.

"Then why didn't YOU do it?!" She shouted back at him and stomped away.

"Girls." Dean says, shaking his head.

It was starting to get dark in the forest and they were tired of running and walking all day.

They stop at an area of grass near a stream with a few logs scattered around.

Gondel broke a log in pieces by smashing it against a tree. Pieces of wood fell to the ground and Variana started dark casting with the wood.

Dean laid down on the grass and fell fast asleep.

Once the fire was made Gondel sits near it and stares at the fire, thinking deeply.

Variana laid next to Dean and stared at the stars, counting them.

Gondel breaks the silence, "I'm sorry for upsetting you earlier."

She doesn't respond.

"I was sorta more angry before that when you ran off, leaving us with the old lady."

Variana sits up and furrows her brows, "I didn't run away to leave you both there. I ran because I sensed danger even before that guy called for the guards. Did you really think that they came straight away when he called out for them? He didn't even yell loud enough for anyone to hear," she takes a breath, "Those Light Catchers were hunting us down all day and night and are still looking for us now."

Gondel didn't know what to say. All he could think about was of how she sensed danger...

He looks away from the fire and stares at her, "I'm sorry I misunderstood."

"Doesn't matter anyways. It's not like you could of read my mind."

He glances back down at the fire, still having deep thoughts.

Variana lays back down, relieved that their conversation was over.

She falls asleep, leaving Gondel to be the only one awake.

Varianas back pack was right next her, calling out Gondel's name.

He quietly crawls towards it and unzips the backpack.

Inside, were three daggers (one of them bloody), two jackets that Gondel didn't know what color it was from the lack of light the fire was giving.

One item in the bag made Gondel wonder what it was...

He took the item out and observed it in his hands.

It was a necklace with a circle on the chain... Half of it was black and the other half was yellowish-orange. Meaning, that it was half of the moon and half of the sun.
