Chapter Fourteen

The sun was rising, making the temperature rise.

Variana takes off her sweater and wraps it around her waist. In the middle of the night it was freezing.

They haven't stopped walking for hours, and they became really hungry.

"We need to get some food. You both stay here while I go back to that lake over there." Gondel suggest and walked off.

Dean sits on a large rock and plays around with a string, hanging off of the cloth around his shoulder.

Variana reaches inside her pocket for her broken necklace and takes it out. She faces her back to Dean so he won't see.

Her breathing rate was getting fast by the minute. She felt as if something was suffocating her. Quickly, she puts the necklace back in her pocket and was breathing normally.

Nature really didn't like her.

Gondel came back with two large fishes, branches injected into their eyes.

Chills went up Variana's spine thinking about how gross the dead fish looked.

"Sorry, were you expecting cow meat?" Gondel said with sarcasm.

She rolls her eyes and starts making a fire to cook the fish.

When she sits down beside the fire, the broken pieces of her necklace slips out of her pocket. It makes small clinking noises but Gondel and Dean hear. They both stare at it, but Gondel looked furious, "Why did you bring it with you?!"

"I don't know..."

"What was going through your head? You'll get killed any moment now and probably us too."

Right when he said his words, the wind started to pick up. It got stronger and stronger. Dean grabbed all the pieces of the necklace off the ground and stood up. They struggled just standing.

The wind was blowing so hard that a giant tree started to shake and slowly break in half. "It's going to fall!" Dean yells out.

It breaks, the tree falling above Dean. Variana runs towards him and pushes him out of the way.

She raises her hands towards the tree, dark shadows rose from her hands and surrounded the tree. The shadows were moving the other way, and the tree along with it.

"Thanks." Dean said to her.

She nods, sees more trees falling towards them and yells out, "Run!"

The three of them run from the ambush of trees.

Gondel jumps over a tree that fell just inches away from him.

Another tree fell in front of Variana and she slides under it, getting dirt all over her clothes. The hair tie on Variana's hair gets caught on a branch and she yells in pain. Nearby, a tree was falling, right above her. She tugs harder and harder. Finally, the hair tie cuts loose and her black hair flows freely through the wind.

She was way behind Dean and Gondel, and no matter how fast she ran she couldn't catch up to them. "Guys! Hey!" She yelled. Dean heard her and stopped to wait but Gondel kept running and dodging other falling trees.

Dirt started to blow around and blurred Variana's eye sight. She crashed into a tree but made her way around it. The ground shook under her, making her fall to the ground. Crawling towards Dean, he starts running so that the dirt doesn't blind him too.

He runs down a hill and trips over a rock, rolling the rest of the way down.

Gondel stops running once he realizes that Variana and Dean were much far behind.

He runs around a tree that was falling towards him. He sees two figures in a dust storm from far away but he couldn't tell which was which.

"No!" He screams as he watches a very large tree, collide with one of the figures head and squish them to death.
