Chapter Nineteen

Somewhere in The Dark World

"The special one could be anybody. One that is strong and powerful and-" Lord Astedon caught something more interesting at the corner of his glistening blue eyes.

His serious tone and face turns to a smirk and joyful tone, "Men; The Special One is nearer, and so is the beginning of the prophecy."

Dark Catchers clapped, and laughed coldly.

In the middle of the dark circular room was a large glass case.

In it, was the necklace of the black moon; glowing and shining as bright as it could.

Gondel grunted and pushed against the cell door.

It was overpowered and dark casted, no one with the ability of magic could escape.

"It's useless." Dean groaned on the floor of dirt.

"We-Are-Never-Getting-Out!" Gondel yelled, throwing himself against the door in between words.

Variana sat on the floor beside Dean and had her head between her knees.

"Isn't there anything we can do?" Dean asked, his hands were shaking.

Variana held them in between her hands and looked into Deans eyes warmly, "We'll get out. I promise. There is no way they would put us in here without questioning why we were in that tunnel... Coming to think of it... Why were those dark catchers in there?"

Gondel stopped pounding on the cell door and turned around to face Variana with an idiotic look, "You're kidding me right?"

"Kidding? Kidding about what?"

Dean and Gondel exchanged glances and Dean was the first to speak, "The markings on the walls that you found 'Beautiful' were markings of the Dark Casters. We were on their land, their tunnel."

"Why didn't you both say anything?!" Variana yelled.

"I thought you knew." Gondel said shyly and Dean nods his head.

"Great. Thanks to the both of you, we're now stuck in here for good." Variana said with a fake smile.

Neither of them said a word to each other, but Variana jumped at the sound of keys outside of their cell.

The sound of the door unlocking gave them all hope that they would be set free...

But the sight of 5 gaurds at the door wasn't what they expected.

They chained Variana's wrists together first, then Gondel's and Dean's.

Forced, to follow the gaurds, they did not speak to them of where they were going.

The chains around Variana's wrist also repelled any magic to be used on it.

Dean was struggling the most to get the chains off and Variana knew that if Dean struggled even more, he would get himself killed.

One of the guards dressed in black, grabbed Deans shoulders and he yelled in pain.

His wounded shoulder still hurt him and was slowly healing.

Dean struggled no more and continued walking behind Gondel.

The 5 guards took them to a small, dark, cold, circular room.

They sat the three friends down on the floor, next to each other and they kept looking at their surroundings.

Loud footsteps echoed in the room.

The 5 guards stood in front of the door they entered, and 2 other people walked in.

The way they walked was so graceful but creepy, they seemed so stiff.

One of the two people in front of them was a woman around her thirties.

The long brown hair brought out her wondrous black eyes that darted at Gondel, to Dean and Variana.

The other person was a man, he seemed much older than the woman and had black hair and green eyes.

The woman took a step forward the three and spoke softly.

"I will ask this once and expect an answer. What, were you three children, doing in the tunnel?"

None of them spoke, Gondel had his eyes connected with the woman, Dean was gulping and shuddering, and Variana was glaring at her darkly.

"Hmm?" She hummed angrily.

"Can we have your name?" Variana said rudely.

"Excuse me?" The woman asked appalled.

Before Variana spoke again, her body begain to jerk in places that caused her pain.

It was not happening because she was sick, but because she was dark casted on by the man next to the woman.

Gondel started to crawl towards Variana but Dean stopped him when all the 5 guards walked closer to them.

"Please, stop!" Gondel yelled to the cruel man.

"Answer the question." He muttered, his eyes still on Variana.

Her twitching lessened as Gondel spoke, "We were in the forest. And there was a dust storm... So we hid in the cave and I found a hidden door. I swear, we didn't know where the tunnel was leading to."

The man took his eyes off of Variana and widened them at Gondel.

"What were you all doing in the forest?"

"We left school to help her choose a side." Dean blurted out with his eyes squeezed shut.

His dark brown hair covered most of the guilt on his face, he was already regretting what he said.

"So you all must be Light Casters." The man smirked.

The man walked towards Variana and she trembled at the closeness of their faces.

"Are you confused, young one?"

Her voice came to a whisper and her lips quivered, "Not anymore."

Gondel and Dean were surprised that she had finally chosen a side, either light or dark.

But which one?
