24. Little Dragon

'She's a dwarf.' One finally yelled out above the silence.

'Give her to me' Alisha demanded. The wet nurse handed the child off and Alisha looked down into her eyes and the baby stopped crying. 

'She's beautiful, she's perfect, I love her.' Alisha told them. Viserys sat beside Alisha looking at their daughter, her little limbs and larger head. Yet, Alisha looked at this little baby like she was the most precious thing in the world. Viserys looked at his wife and looked over at their little girl, the dwarf. He already knew what people would say, hell the maesters themselves were already horrified. 

"Is she healthy?" Alisha questioned. 

"She is a dwarf."

"Dwarfism is not a something that will make her unhealthy, shes just different." Alisha remarked. "Now, is she healthy?" They gingerly took the babe from Alisha and checked her over. She screamed out when taken away from Alisha, but she kicked her little legs and they swaddled her up. 

"She seems healthy but her condition-"

"She is perfect." Alisha sneered. "You are excused." 

"Of course your grace." THey filed out quickly as Alisha cradled her baby to her, cooing down to her sweet nothings. 

'I named her.'' Alisha remarked softly. 

'You did?' he questioned curiously.

''Can I, I mean can I?" Alisha whispered. 

"Of course, what were you thinking my love?" Viserys agreed as he touched their little girls head. 

"I was looking up different meaning for dragon." Alisha remarked. "And I came across... oh can you grab that book?" Viserys moved grabbing the book from the beside table. She flipped it open. "Kaida means little dragon, its perfect." Viserys smiled pressed a kiss to her temple. "She's perfect."

"That is perfect." Viserys agreed.

"My little dragon." Alisha coed touching her little legs.

'My dear are you happy?' Viserys pondered.

'Of course I'm happy! look at look what we made, look what we created! look at this beautiful little bundle!" Alisha declared, she was smiling the biggest smile Viserys had ever seen.

'Well then if you're happy I'm happy.' He said kissing her head. "She is cute." Who cared what others thought? they had a little dragon, a little dragon that they would love and protect.

'Oh Rhaenyra, Laenor look!' Alisha said when they came to check on her and the little baby, Rhaenyra's new sibling.

'A little baby,' Rhaenyra remarked getting closer, Alisha was in bed the baby in her arms, Viserys was getting her some food and Aemond has passed out on the bed beside her.

"Congratulations, a little girl." Laenor remarked fondly. 

''Would you like to hold her?' Alisha questioned.

'Of course of course' he took her in his arms and then he noticed... he saw what was wrong with her, he bit his lip unable to look at Alisha, Rhaenyra peered over thinking dear Gods was it a black baby? Was this Laenor's child? What was that look for?

''Isn't she wonderful?'' Alisha declared. Rhaenyra looked up at her confused. she wasn't mad but she had a dwarf for a child.

'Yes yes she is' Laenor told her. RHaenyra shrugged. 

''She's so little and she's gonna stay little forever,'' ALisha told them, a big smile on her face. Slowly a smile crept onto Laenor's face. 

'You're not mad that's a child is a dwarf?"' Rhaenyra questioned curiously still not able to believe it, no one wanted a dwarf.

''Why would I be mad?'' Alisha countered as Laenor handed the little girl back to her mother.

'Most people... they don't really... I mean... As long as you love her, I guess nothing else matters." Rhaenyra offered. 

"Of course I do, she is my child. She could have been born with one arm, missing an eye, a heart on the wrong side, it does not matter, I would still love her. Because she is mine. I protect whats mine." Alisha declared. 

"You are a good mother." Rhaenyra informed her. "She is going to be very loved." 

"That she is." Laenor agreed. "Congratulations again." 

"Thank you." Alisha agreed as viserys came in. 

"Ah, Rhaenyra you met Kaida." Viserys remarked. 

"Kaida." Rhaenyra repeated. "Thats a curious name."

"It means little dragon." Alisha corrected. "Not curious at all, she is my little dragon after all." Rhaenyra nodded smiling back at her. How was she so damn perfect all the time? It wasnt fair. 

"Mama dragon mode." Laenor declared fondly. Alisha knew what people would think, she knew they would talk but she wouldnt let her little Kaida be hurt by the world.
