Jayde's Pov
I mean it's not like everyone in Huntsville was normal. I mean it's not a whole civil rights movement anymore but there's still tension around the whole town. Like a micro aggression it just builds up. And sure I've handled racism before more than I can count but it felt different last night.I mean Logan always talked about about how he wanted a future with us together but I don't think I could see it anymore. I mean my dad is so overprotective and his mom is just flat out racist. Maybe Logan is just blind but me on the other hand I think logically and I can't imagine a future with both of our parents in our lives.
"And then she went full ape shit. I'm surprised she didn't call the police" I recited the story to Nora and Kayla sitting on the lunch table as they sat on the chairs
"Damn just like that?" Kayla questioned
"Why are you even surprised? I mean not to point out the obvious but Jayde's black and Logan's white I mean not to point out the obvious but it was down to happen"Nora spoke pointing around and hitting the table as I rolled my eyes leaning forward
"But we can't even assume that because" I was about to defend myself but she cut me off
"Keshia Jayde Carter stop making excuses for this man! His mom is a redneck racist and more than likely the apple doesn't fall far from the tree"She yelled as me and Kayla looked at her crazy and my jaw dropped from disbelief
"Are you saying Logan is racist?"Kayla raised an eyebrow
"Exactly!"She screamed banging the table
"Okay first of all you don't say my full name in public ever again in your life. And secondly Logan is far from racist and that's a fact and why would you even think that?" I spoke
"Okay I'll drop it but when you become a shitty documentary about how your boyfriend and your mother in law tried to kill you. Your gonna wished you listened to me"She spoke again sounding ridiculous again
"Nope and here's the title of that documentary 'Was it ever love or color?" She said dramatically using her hands
"Shut up Nora! And stop acting ignorant" I huffed looking at her
"Well damn do y'all ever stop"Kayla shrugged
"No because Jayde never listens..."She trailed off
"See she can't even talk right because she knows she's ridiculous" I spoke pointing at her
"I summoned him" Nora groaned putting her head down on the table making me turn around to see Logan, Cris, and Austin
"Come on I know you're happy to see me"Austin shoved Nora's shoulders and wrapping his arms around her
"As if! Since when has that ever happened?" She spoke as Logan came and sit next to me
"Every time you see me don't lie"He spoke"Here"Logan said handing me a drink from the vending machine
"Well we gotta go team meeting"Cris shrugged as they walked off.
The rest of my three periods I was in my head. I didn't believe Nora but what if it wasn't all good. I mean all I wanted to do with Logan was grow.
"Big game tonight huh?" I asked him sitting next him on the bleahers
"I mean it's just the woodside wildcats. But I have an even bigger problem happening tonight "He spoke
"And what is that?" I questioned
"I mean I wanted to make up to a beautiful girl tonight. I'm just hoping she'll be up for the offer"
"And how would you do that" I huffed
