~Summer~
The following night I awoke in a cold sweat with shivers running down my spine.
It's only a dream. It was only a dream. I soothed myself. My feet touched the cold floor as I sat on the edge of my bed. It was only a dream. I repeated it over and over again. The panic welled in my chest as I slid down the wall and pulled my knees up to my chest. The door opened and someone in a white gown walked toward me.
"Oh love," Celebrian said as she helped me to my feet and walked me over to the bed. She sat me down, wrapped her arms around me, and smoothed my hair.
"It's alright," She said softly over and over.
I clung to her in the darkness. When I could finally speak I sat up and wiped the tears from my eyes.
"There there. It's alright," Celebrian wiped my wet cheeks with the corner of her silk dress. "Everything is fine. You're safe here."
I smiled with a shuttery sigh, "I just."
"You do not need to explain yourself to me. I know," She smiled in that comforting way mothers do. Celebrian tucked me back into bed and sat with me.

A week later I awoke to the soft sounds of birds in the trees. The golden sunlight poured in through the doorways. I quickly dressed myself and walked through the halls to the dining room.
"Good morning," Elrohir stood and pulled my chair out for me.
"Good morning!" I smiled.
"Someone's in a good mood," Glorfindel teased.
"I slept great," I shrugged.
Elladan walked in, "I'm going to take breakfast back to our chamber. Zephyra's feeling poorly."
"Poor dear,'' Celebrian frowned softly. "I remember those days."
"I took some of the capsules from the healers," Elladan said as one of the servants handed him a tray.
"Elrohir and I have business to contend with but you're free to wander where you want and do whatever you wish. If anyone tries to tell you otherwise tell them you have permission from elrond," Elrond said as he passed me the tray of cheeses.
"Thank you," I smiled. I had something on my to-do list.
I looked around the stable for a saddle. I knew enough about tacking and riding a horse from movies to feel confident on my own. I found a saddle that looked about my size, along with a bridle and blanket.
I made my way back to Flicka's stall, "Want to get out for a bit?"
She looked at me anxiously.
I set the blanket and saddle on her back, "See, It won't hurt you."
Flicka looked back at me with questioning eyes. I offered her the bit, which she took thankfully. I led her out of the stable, I wondered why they called her wild? She seemed perfectly tame to me. I grabbed onto her mane, hoisting myself into the saddle. She shifted slightly as I adjusted myself.
"Easy girl," I cooed to her.
I tapped the sides of the horse and we started at an easy trot down a trail. We walked under the thick foliage of the trees. Birds chirped and I could hear bees humming in the long grass. Flicka still looked around anxiously from time to time. After coming to a split in the path, I chose to go left. Flicka broke into a fast canter as we streaked across a field, flying under the vast sky. I held out my arms, feeling the wind around me. Flicka ran through another tree line into a clearing. We stopped abruptly at the sound of growling, and clanging metal. I looked around, wishing I possessed the keen eyesight of the elves. I whipped Flicka around and kicked her sides. We galloped through the forest, back towards the valley. I didn't realize how far we'd come. She lept over a log and nearly tossed me off but I clung to her neck and righted myself on her back. I avoided looking back as I didn't want to see what followed us.
Flicka and I burst into the clearing where the stables were. I breathed a sigh of relief, wondering what I had just avoided. Everything in the valley was calm. As if nothing was wrong. I calmed myself, taking a few deep breaths. After tracking down a comb I detangled Flicks tail. She leaned into my brushing, looking relaxed. I smiled, horses gave me an unexplainable calm. I patted the horse one last time, "I'll come back soon, goodbye Mellon."
I practiced the few words in elvish I knew.
"You speak beautifully."
I whipped around to see an elf standing behind me. He was dressed as some sort of warrior.
"My name is Tegalad," He bowed.
"Nice to meet you Tegalad," I nodded to him. The ellon in front of me had brown hair, a sharp jawline, and green eyes.
"You have way with animals," Tegalad smiled as he patted Flicka's forehead.
I picked at a fuzzy on my leggings, "Oh I don't know about that."
" I am no liar," He smiled.
Somewhere between our first hello and our second conversation about horse lore I found myself walking among the trees of rivendell with this guy and enjoying it immensely. Tegalad was funny, kind, and quite charismatic. He had an airy attitude and a soul that craved adventure. Just like my own.
"So your brother was a captain?" I asked.
"Yes!" Tegalad turned around, walking backwards so he could talk to me. "We migrated here from the southern borders of Lorien when I was just an elfling."
"And what happened to your father?" I asked.
Tegalad picked a daisy from the grass. He plucked a few petals from it and tossed them into the wind.
"Sometimes we lose those that are close to us," He helped up the daisy that now had few petals left. "But there is always strength left."
"That's," I stared at the flower. "Profound."
"My mother always had a way with words. I guess I may have inherited some of it."
"I think you did," I smiled.
The two if us found our way back to the house of Elrond.
"I enjoyed our gander," Tegalad kissed my hand. "I hope I have the pleasure of seeing fair lady again?"
I nodded shyly and gave him a small grin, "You may."
"Then until that blessed day I shall carry your pleasant memory with me," He bowed and walked away.
I turned around just in time to see Elrohir at the end of the hall.
"Elrohir," I whispered as he turned on his heel and walked away in the opposite direction.
What have I done.
~Elrohir~
My back hit the hard wall as I collapsed against it. Red hot anger burned through me with the speed of a nazgul. I slammed my fist against the surface and rest my forehead on it.
Breathe. Cool down. Breathe. I repeated to myself. Tears of jealousy dripped down my cheeks, leaving cool lines on my warm skin.
If he touches her I'll kill him. I heard myself whisper.
"Elrohir?" Someone grabbed my shoulder.
I whirled around, snapped out of my haze, and saw my brother standing before me.
"Are you crying?" He asked.
I quickly rubbed any dampness from my face, "No. I'm not."
He nodded, "alright. You know you can talk to me."
"It's nothing!" I insisted.
"Jealousy is normal. I went through it too," he tapped his temple.
Dang this twin bond.
"What do I do?" I asked.
"Fight for her," He said. " fight hard."
