"energy speaks louder than words."

Elyana

"Diba, do you know anything about how she sprained her hand?" My mom asked Diba with a worried look. I roll my eyes and sigh as Diba looks over to me with no expression. "No auntie, she didn't even tell me she went to the hospital."

"I can't believe you went to hospital all alone." Hawa looked over to me with her brows furrowed, like she was pissed. "You couldn't at least called me, I could've drove you there." She added taking a bite from pancakes.

"You guys are worrying too much, it's nothing to think about." I cleared my throat and looked down at my pancakes. My mom exhaled as if she was so tired of me, "Elyana, I think it was the worst idea leaving you here for month. And I wish I could change that but we're leaving in two hours already."

"Ugh! Mom, please don't think much of it. It was an accident. You go have fun in Iraq." I take the last bite of my pancake and get up from my seat to leave my plate in the sink.

"Let's go girls, we're going to be late for school."

"But I'm not finished-"

"Get up Hawa!" I pull her up from her seat and drag her out off the kitchen, "Thank you so much auntie, have fun in Iraq and if you find a handsome man for me I'll be really happy." She shouts as I heard my mom laugh from the kitchen.

"Bye mama, kiss dad for me too. I'll see you in one month." We walk out of the house and Diba follows us. We get into the car and Hawa instantly starts the car.

"Okay now that we don't have your mom around you have to tell us what happened to your hand, are you faking it for attention from your parents or it's true?"

Hawa's question about my hand had me on edge. I couldn't tell her and Diba the truth about how I got injured, not yet. I knew I was going to tell Hawa, but not Diba. I can't risk anything, I know she'll be really destroyed if she finds out that Chase helped me take me to the hospital.

"I just slipped," I said, hoping they wouldn't push it

But Diba was skeptical, "That's it? You slip all the time and never hurt yourself like this."

"Yeah," Hawa chimed in, "You usually cry for help the second you stub your toe."

I tried to hide my annoyance as I replied, "Well, I guess I wanted to be independent for once."

Hawa laughed at that, "Bitch, be for real. You sound so stupid."

We walked into the school and noticed that the hallways were empty, damn we're screwed. We we're already late for our classes, which never happens.

"Oh my god, bitches, run!" Hawa yelled as we rushed through the hallway, trying to make it to our lockers. I struggled to open my locker, my hand ached with every turn of the dial. "Hurry up, Ana," Hawa said impatiently.

I snapped at her, my frustration boiling over, "It's not my fault you took forever to finish your pancakes this morning!"

Hawa rolled her eyes, "Blame your mom, she really knows how to make pancakes."

I burst out laughing at what Hawa said and looked at Diba to see if she was laughing too, but I noticed that she was zoned out somewhere else. "Diba, what's wrong?" I asked with my brows furrowed.

"Ana, Hawa, why is Chase coming over?" We suddently heard Diba say with almost a whisper.

I feel my heart starts racing as I spot Chase walking towards us. I feel a knot forming in my stomach, afraid that he might say something that will make Diba and Hawa realize that he took me to hospital.
