12. Gaining Attention

Parker's P.O.V.

Two days, that's how long it's been since Declan went missing. All of us that are on the guard have been taking turns with searching the woods. I finish walking up the stairs to my room, and tiredly walk to my door. As I open it, I watch as the door to the room Axel and his two friends stay in opens. Axel pokes his head out, and looks at me.

"Anything yet?" Axel asks, I look down at the floor, then shake my head.

"The next round of guard members just started searching a different part of the perimeter and woods. Hopefully we'll come up with something." I say, Axel nods his head, then a pondering look comes over his face.

"What?" I look at Axel curiously, he shakes his head almost as though he's shaking a thought away.

"There has to be a reason behind them taking His Royal Highness, Prince Declan. Remember all the times when Zane would take you from Cleo? And it was always because Zane wanted to get her attention, what if they want more than just the packs attention?" Axel explains, I look at him wide eyed, then take hold of his arm and nearly drag him down the hall.

"Parker, is the dragging necessary?" Axel asks as he tries to get out of my grip. I turn and see Drew and Connor, poking their heads out of the room watching. I flash my green wolf eyes at them, they jump, then shut themselves in the room.

"Are you going to follow me and walk on your own, if I let you go?" I turn to Axel and ask a bit grouchy, he nods, I let go of him and continue walking down the stairs. We walk in silence as we get to the main floor, I walk straight to alpha Edgar's office, and hear the commotion going on before we reach the door.

"How has no one found any signs of them? It hasn't rained, so how is it that there is no scent trail pointing us to Declan's location? This is unheard of, if we do not come up with something soon, then we will have to take drastic measures." Alpha Edgar yells, my eyes go wide and I look at Axel his eyes are wide and he nods.

"See, I told you. They want something bigger, than just what they've already taken." Axel mentally says, my eyes go wide and I bust into the office, not bothering to knock.

"Parker, what are you doing in here, and why is he with you?" Jett asks, as he turns and sees me, then glares at Axel.

"One, he has a name, it's Axel. Two, an all out war is what they are hoping to gain from this. By taking the future alpha of the pack, they know it could trigger a deadly response from us." I say, everyone looks at me, then looks of realization begin to cross their faces.

"How did you come up with this notion?" Alpha Edgar asks, I look from him and turn to Axel. Axel looks at me and shakes his head, I nod at him, then pull him into alpha Edgar's office.

"Zane would always take Parker away from Cleo, when he was about three or four years old. And every time this happened, it triggered a sometimes violent outburst from Cleo. She would challenge him, and fight him in order to get Parker back. I'm guessing that's what they are trying to do, have a fight happen in order for you to get His Royal Highness Prince Declan back." Axel explains, I smirk and nod at him.

"Sounds exactly like something Zane would do. But, Zane can't be the mastermind behind this. He isn't smart enough to think of something this elaborate." I say and watch as everyone gives me surprised looks.

"What? I'll talk down and degrade him. He did the same thing to me, sometimes it was worse." I explain, everyone's surprised expressions drop and they lightly nod their heads.

"What should we do, then?" Alpha Edgar asks, I take a deep breath and think about it.

"Pull the guards off the perimeter. Only run perimeter a few times a day, and not every hour on the hour. We need to switch it up, they are memorizing the schedule when it comes to how long perimeter is lasting. Still continue with the search for Declan, but hold the search every few hours, and not every hour like it's been going." I suggest, and watch as everyone thinks of what I have said.
