26. Ambush

Parker's P.O.V.

About four days after the perimeter team caught a rogue, that ultimately ended up being Jett's mate, we were tasked with taking her back to her home pack. I sit in the car across from Jett and Serenity, Serenity keeps her head down and Jett holds her hand. I look through the window behind me, at the car Cleo, Declan, Luna Tahlia, and Elder Edgar all ride in. Declan chose to have Cleo accompany him as a safety precaution.

"How is she holding up?" Declan asks me, I turn back around, and keep my gaze forward.

"She's keeping her head down and staying quiet. I can feel the nerves rolling off of her." Declan hums in response to my answer.

"Only another Twenty to Twenty-Five minutes left, until we're there." Declan informs, I lightly nod.

"We'll be there in about Twenty to Twenty-Five minutes." Serenity breathes heavy, then Jett tightens his grip around Serenity's shoulders. Jett looks at me and nods his head.

"She is very nervous. Are we sure this is a good idea?" Declan hums as I ask my question.

"Her parents requested, that we bring her home, and discuss the manner in which she was found. That and they haven't seen her in over a month, they need to see her." Declan explains, I sit back, and stare out the window as tree after tree pass by

Right as the car rounds a corner, the sound of tires blowing and losing air, becomes apparent. I look behind me and through the window and see the car the royals are in, slides and spins. The car then goes off the road, and down toward the woods, then what sounds like the tires blowing out, happens to the car I'm in. The car spins twice, then I feel it lift and flip off the road and down toward the trees.

"Everyone hold on!" I scream as the car flips one last time, then lands upside down. I let Rocco come forward, and tear the seatbelt away from me. I fall toward the roof of the car, then flip myself, so that I sit on the roof of the car. I crawl forward, then tear the door off the hinges. I get out of the car, as the adrenaline begins to subside, I feel every injury. I pop my left shoulder back into place as I make my way over to Declan and Cleo's car. As I get to the halfway point in between the cars, another car comes speeding up, then screeches to a halt. Zane charges from the car, and rushes down the hill toward Declan and Cleo's car. He gets to the car, and pulls the door off its hinges. He sticks his front half into the car for a second, then comes out holding Cleo.

"Cleo! Zane put her down!" I scream, Zane turns and smiles evilly at me. He then takes off for the car he came in. I feel myself get angry, then let Rocco come forward and phase me into my wolf.

"Deck, you need to get up, NOW! The rogues have Cleo!" I say, then dart after Zane, I hear Lumis howl in my head, then see him right next to me as we try and catch up to the car, as it begins to speed away.

We get up close to the car, and see Miranda turn in the passenger seat toward the window. She gives a devious smile, then lifts her hand and waves as the car speeds away, throwing dust behind it.

"CLEO!" Declan howls, then the rest of the pack begins to howl in my head.
