Chapter 18

Inside the warehouse it was crowded. Thankfully none of the vampires had noticed us as we snuck in. I waited for everyone to get in before pointing to Adonis. I motioned above and he began to make his way up the stairs. Kane and Dwyn were perfect for hiding due to their dark fur, so I left them be and motioned for Arthfael and Adrien to follow me.

I crept along the wall, keeping an eye on the vampires that were close by. If one turned and looked it would be dangerous. As soon as I got halfway down the warehouse, I pointed to Adrien to stay here. Arthfael and I continued on.

We made our way to the opposite side from Adrien, and I motioned for Arthfael to stay there. Backtracking, I made my way towards the opposite side from the door. I glanced around, noticing that most of the vampires wore hoods to blend in.

I grabbed my hood and lifted it over my head. I needed to get closer to Cornelius and Amir. I was just thankful I had decided to wear a hoodie even if the sleeves were shorter than most hoodies. I made my way into the crowd, keeping my head down.

"Hey! Stop shoving." A vampire grumbled at me.

I ignored the vampire and continued to move forward until I noticed it had thinned out. I could make out a voice speaking not too far away from me. I peeked out from the second row of vampires and spotted a metal table sitting between two vampires.

One vampire had scars all over his body and had brown hair. He also wore glasses and looked frustrated. The other vampire had not a single scar on his body that I could see, and he had black hair. They had papers sprawled out between them.

"I'm telling you Cornelius; we need to train our vampires to resist the temptation to bite Tiger-humans. Who knows how long it will be before more VL-R2A Tiger-humans will appear? If it's anything like the R2A we need to be prepared for more VL-R2A Tiger-humans to show up fighting us with blood that could kill us." The black-haired vampire spoke.

"You're thinking as if this new type of Tiger-human that spawned from April will be like the R2A Tiger-humans that spawned from Vivien, Amir. There have been no others that share her blood since Delphine died. Ophelius was weakened by her blood, but the people who killed him were not Tiger-humans. We need to think of what April is up to right now and what she is doing currently." Cornelius spoke up as he pushed some papers over to Amir.

"Harpreet disagrees. She knows there will be others. She says it's the blood of the ancients reawakening. She has gone into hiding and not even I know where she had disappeared to. Our best bet is to prepare for the eventual arrival of a Tiger-human born with VL-R2A. April's still young and able to produce more Tiger-humans with any Tiger-human. We should gather some Tiger-humans together and begin testing them with the sample of April's blood we got from Delphine's and Ophelius's body. From there we should be able to tell if it can turn someone by just a drop of it touching the blood of a regular Tiger-human as well as an R2A Tiger-human." Amir argued as he handed papers to a vampire beside him.

The vampire walked over to Cornelius and placed the papers down in front of him. Cornelius examined the papers handed to him while Amir examined the papers Cornelius had pushed over to him. Both were silent as they read them over. I needed to get closer.

I glanced up into the rafters and noticed Adonis had made his way up to the same rafters as Lugus. They were both close to each other and it looked like Lugus was telling Adonis about what had happened while we were outside. They didn't notice I was even among the vampires.

"Do you think we really are in danger of April? I thought Michael had claimed to have destroyed any chances for her to have another child." Cornelius spoke up as he placed the papers down.

"I had reports from some of the vampires who had survived Godiva's failed attack on her hiding place that she did something that was unexpected. She used magic." Amir spoke as he glanced up from the papers.
