Arrangements

Part 1

She was sitting down across from her parents at their dining room table

Betty- "why am I here? I have a presentation tomorrow and I've barely started"

Alice- "and you can get back to that in a second but your father and I need to talk to you"

Betty- "am I in trouble?"

Hal- "not at all, we just have something to tell you"

Betty- "oh my god, a-are you getting a divorce?"

Alice- "no, but it is big"

Betty- "then what is it? Because I know you're not having a baby"

Alice- "oh god no"

Betty- "will you please just tell me? You're scaring me"

Then they heard the doorbell ring

Betty scrunched her eyebrows as Hal got up and answered the door

Betty- "is this part of it?"

Alice- "yes, it is"

Hal opened the door and she saw a man walk in and a boy she had never seen before

Betty- "okay what is this?"

Alice- "Betty, this is Jughead and Fp Jones"

Betty- "um Hi? Sorry I'm just confused"

Jughead- "yeah, why the hell are we here?"

Fp- "just park it"

Jughead threw himself on a chair and sulked as Alice and Hal sat down next to Betty

Betty- "will someone please explain!?"

Alice- "well we just thought that you two would want to meet each other"

Jughead- "this is what all that fuss with mom was about? You're setting me up?"

Fp- "not exactly, Alice?"

Alice- "well w-we just thought that it would be best for the north and south side of the town"

Betty- "so you want us, two random strangers to just randomly start dating? That's crazy"

Jughead- "yeah"

Hal- "you're actually doing more then dating"

Betty- "what do you mean"

Alice- "well Betty, after you graduate in a couple months.. you'll be getting married"

Betty and Jughead- "What!?"

Betty- "we can't get married! what about Archie? What about college?"

Alice- "you'll go after the wedding, and as for Archie.. you'll have to break up with him"

Betty- "no! I'm not breaking up with my boyfriend for some guys you want me to get married to"

Hal- "you don't have a choice, we're your parents"

Betty scoffed before leaving the house and going next door

Archie- "Betty? What's wrong?"

Betty- (in tears) "m-my parents Arch, they're trying to marry me off to some guy"

Archie- "what? They can't do that"

Betty- (crys) "I don't want to archie"

He pulled her inside and took her over to the couch

Archie- "so what did they say to you?"

Betty- (sniffs) "they told me to sit down at the table and told me they need to talk to me about something"

Archie- "and they want you to get married?"

Betty- (nods) "to some southsider"

Archie- "I'm so sorry Betty, is there anything I can do?"

Betty- (softly) "I don't think there's anything that either of us can do"

He put his hand on her cheek and wiped one of her tears away

Archie- "I love you, I'll always love you"

He kissed her before she smiled again

Betty- (in tears) "I love you too"

She sunk into his arms as he kissed the top of her head

Archie- "you're going to be happy, it's going to be okay"

Betty- "I can't Arch, I can't love anyone else"

Archie- "we're only in high school, you should open your heart Betty"

Betty- "but what if he's awful? I feel comfortable and safe with you"

Archie- "your parents wouldn't do that to you, you should trust them"

Betty- "will you be okay?"

Archie- "as long as you're happy, it'll be okay"

She kissed his cheek before they sat on the couch until Betty needed to go back home

Archie- "don't forget to fall in love again"

Betty- (sniffs) "I won't, I promise"

Then she headed back home
